2008 and Nav Radio
I know this is going to come up. 2008 H3's came out with a new ONSTAR module this year. If you decide to change out your current radio and put in a factory Nav Radio, it will probably not work. The new ONSTAR module will stop the Nav from working. In factory 2008 H3's that come from the factory with Nav Radio, we are putting in a different ONSTAR module so it will work. If you decide to do this, you will need the other ONSTAR module or one from 2007 model which is close to the same.

Just ran out to check this cause I put an '06 nav unit from my 07 H3 into my 08 Alpha. Telephone and OnStar worked fine-I even had OnStar run a diagnostic and they said it was working as it should.
Maybe my Alpha is too early production and has an 07 module?

Re: 2008 and Nav Radio
No, 08 started out with the new module unless it came with a Nav. unit from the factory. The test fleet of 2008 preproduction units had this problem, after a while, that is why we had a hold on Nav radios for 08. They came off hold first of August when we recieved in the older ONSTAR units. It won't happen right away, but when it does, you'll know why. The ONSTAR for non Nav. units is alot stronger than previous years, and it and the Nav antenna make a electronic field that disables the Nav radio. A possible fix is to move the Nav. antenna under the dash. The only problem with that is there is only so much window room for the antenna to pick up. That is why they went with the lower powered ONSTAR unit.

In your experience and that of the others with the test fleet, how long to see this problem surface? I have had the truck about 2 months and still all seems well.
Also, the nav antenna is currently under the dash near the windshield to the left of the center air vents (stock location). You mention moving it under the dash - anyplace in particular fi I should see the problem develop?
Thanks

Re: 2008 and Nav Radio
If you start having problems, move the antenna to the other side of the dash, any thing to get it farther away from the ONSTAR unit.

Does this now mean my rear wiper blade will go fully across the rear window?
