Default Me vs. Sprint PCS

Thought this was funny.

I have been trying to get a rebate from Sprint for 3 months now. They kept telling me that they had not received my documintation that I had sent twice. I have called countless times and get nowhere. I have spend hours on the phone. Soooooooo......

I took it a step further and set up my fax machine to fax the documents over and over for the past 4 days. To make it more noticable, I made it a 40 page fax. It went through 134 times in the last 4 days.

This is the email I FINALLY got this morning. LOOK AT THE LAST PART.

Dear James Thomas: Rebate ID: 8064XXXX
Thank you for your rebate inquiry. We are pleased to inform you that your submission for the wireless line 210-XXX-XXXX and XXXXXXX has been received and is processing. Please allow the full 6-14 weeks processing time which is stated on the rebate form.

I have been with Sprint for 6 years and had gotten pretty feed up with them. I called them the other day when my most recent 2 year agreement was up to tell them to cancel my account.

Of course, they're all bothered by this and they called a couple of days later and wanted to discuss the reasons why I wanted to cancel.

I basically told them that they have too many dropped calls and I find a lot of dead areas, including the middle of my kitchen (must be the radon ). I also told them that they do NOTHING for their current customers and all the best savings/deals on plans and phones are always focused on the new customers but not current ones.

So I told them that I had decided to go with another carrier because I could get phone X and Plan X for a much lower price. I also said that I had decided to start dealing with cellualr companies the way I do credit card companies (i.e. changing ever 6-12 months for a lower APR); thus I would change my cellular company every 2 years since the cellular industry always seems to respect the new customer more than the existing customer.

Well, I must have said the right things because Sprint listened and ended up giving me a $649 Treo for $199 with no mail-in rebate and they billed it directly to my monthly bill and sent me the phone by UPS in 3 days.

Guess honestly (and bitching) does work sometimes.

Nice of them to make a deal with you when you threaten to leave, why didn't they offer upgraded equipment and better rates when you were a regular paying customer?

Trying to retain customers is one thing, it's the lower rate plans they don't ever offer to existing customers that piss me off. If you're under contract at a fixed price then fine but charging wildly different rates outside the contract period is wrong.

What, are we supposed to call them every month to ask what the new rate is?

My wife use to work for Sprint, they suck, glad you got help. Dish Network does the same thing. If you have Dish you cannot cancel and then rejoin in the future to take advantage of any promos. They wanted me to sign back up at full pop. I waited a week and signed up via a new phone number and recived all the good stuff. Noone cares about current customers the theme is "One and Done" same with a car most of the time, after you sign, see ya later

I did this in 2002.

Made a form on the computer and went in to the phone store with a DUMMY: U. S. Department of Consumer Affairs questionare, Logos and all sorts of question like the sales reps name , time and date, address, how many other customers in store, how long did you wait, service quality, etc etc You have the picture...

Well they got the manager who called the General Manager who drove over right away and waited on me himself. I got stuff for free that I didn't even know existed.

I think I need to make more forms like that...

Their world headquarters is located in the county where I work. They have a huge campus with quite a few large, multi-story buildings. Guess what kind of cell service you get on their compus if you have Sprint...None... You need to go about a block away from their compus in any direction before you get Sprint cell service again.

Haha, this just keeps making me laugh. I can only imagine their horror as the machine probably just kept going and going and going. They probably unplugged the damn thing, and then plugged it back in and it just kept spitting out your fax. It was 5,360 pages!!!! Hahahaha. It probably took their most reserved email writer to send you that message.
