Plastic Problems
Is anyone else having this happen. It's just to the left side of the windshield (driver side). It's almost like there is a film thats peeling off of the plastic.

Haven't had the problem, but the dealer should replace.

Yes! I have! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've taken my H3 in for so many things that I thought, geeez, this guy isn't going to believe this. I had to have my entire hood repainted (plus hood boxes). I thought they must have touched the A-pillar with adhesive or something during the process. When I showed it to the dealer afterwards, he told me it looked like it was peeling. They have two A-pillar molding on order for me. My peeling is happening on the A-pillar moldings, mostly on the driver side.

Re: Plastic Problems
Sorry to hear yours is doing it also. Mine wil be going in for the rear washer pump and jack recalls so I wil show them then. Hopefully it won't repeat this after the new ones are on.

I agree, I hope this doesn't happen to either of us again after the replacement. I think we're the only ones on the forum with this particular problem. Good luck to you!

Re: Plastic Problems
I've got it too...and I thought I did it scraping branches in the forest. It looks like a film peeling off the pillars, I'll take it in & see if I can get it replaced....will let you know.

Re: Plastic Problems
I have it too, but in a different place. Mine is peeling on the plastic "runner" just below the driver's door.

Re: Plastic Problems
Wow, I was hoping not to see too many people that had this happening. Should we perhaps try to figure out why this might be happening? When were your H3's made. Mine was done in Oct 05. I do frequent the car washes during the winter because of our Ohio snow and salt from the roads. Haven't been offroad yet so my truck doesn't get any abuse at all. Not even a finger yet....lol.

Re: Plastic Problems
Just a reminder, GM did change suppliers of those plastic parts, including the roof rails, early this year. Took them a while to get booted up for production. The new plastic parts are supposed to be better, not crack, and fit better, so hopefully, these problems are solved with the new parts. (I sure do hope so.)

I bought mine at the end of July, 05 .. took delivery first week of August, 05 .. so I have one of the 'early' ones. I live in S. California, so I don't have any weather issues here to worry about (mid 60's/winter .. 80's summer), and zero inclement weather. I take mine to a hand wash. I think it's something in the sealant on these moldings. Like f5fstop stated, with the new supplier, hopefully this won't continue to happen.

Yes, we have changed suppliers just recently on other plastic parts. With suppliers having money problems, it will continue to be a revolving door on parts. But, that is why there is a waranty.

Re: Plastic Problems
Ordered my H3 in July '05, took delivery Aug 21, '05.
Took my rig in yesterday for wiper motor & jack replacement, showed 'em the plastic pillars peeling & got new ones put on right away. No hassles, even got a new rear-seat cupholder (my kids busted that QUICK, nice of them to replace for free) Love my dealer!
