Default Remote Starter and Unwanted Flashing Headlights

I bought my 2003 H2 one year used (I picked it up back in 2004). At the time, it already had a remote starter system installed on it, and the remote starter uses the original GM remote (which btw has horrible distance). Does anyone know how I can determine what brand/model remote starter is installed on my truck? The reason I'm asking is because I am tired of my headlights flashing when I remote start the truck at night or before the sun comes up in the morning and want to disable this function on the remote starter. Not to mention that I'm convinced the flashing causes my headlights to fail prematurely...I've gone through numerous sets of headlights between 2004 and now. But I don't know how to disable the flashing because I don't even know what kind of starter I have, nor can I ask anybody else because the first thing they'll tell me is that it depends on the type of starter I have.
Thanks yet again everyone!!

Easy Ed is an unknown quantity at this point

That may be a setting the H2 itself has, check page 3-51 in this manual http://www.elcova.com/h2/2k04hummer.pdf under the perimeter lighting on or off.

Hope it is what you are looking for, Ed

Sounds like the system I have. Its a Viper 5900SST I would too, like to disable the flashing lights when it is remote started. If it is the same, I will ask the guys that installed mine and get back to you on it.

Mine is called a valet and it does the same thing. Never bothered me, though. It might bug a few of my neighbors early in the morning but oh well. I have yet to replace a headlight so I really haven't had a problem.

The sucky distance might be due to battery need in the remote. Try touching the remote to your chin when you activate it. Works for me. I can actually start my truck in the Invesco Field parking lot from my seats on cold weather Bronco game days that way.

I've actually heard that the GM remotes are notorious for bad range, and just to be sure I did replace my battery a couple of times, and I also resort to using the whole "chin method". My wife thought I was nuts, but after a few times I proved it to her and now she is a believer in the "chin method".

I looked at the H2 owners manual and I think EasyEd is almost right. The remote starter probably only tries to flash your parking lights. The way the H2 is set up, at night the lights (parking and headlights) come on automatically, but when the remote starter manually switches on the parking lights, the headlights turn off. You can do this yourself by turning the headlamp switch in the truck to "parking lights mode" and the little green "Auto" indicator next to the switch turns off. With the remote starter, I see this little light blinking in unisyn with my headlights. So I don't think there is a way to disable the blinking headlights. Unless anyone has a few more ideas?
