Question about the stock ADV tires
I have done a little searching but really haven't found quite the answer i was looking for.
How well do the stock Bridgestone 33's work with off roading? We don't have a lot of places to go here in southern Indiana, but there is one place I ride my ATV that vehicles go as well. I know that some of the extreme crawling (here, that means dirt hills or creek banks) will be out of the question, but how well do these tires do for moderate trail riding with some hills and a little mud? (Not planning on just mudding, but smaller pits like 1-2 feet deep of mud/water at the VERY most)
This is my daily driver and I really don't want to get MT's due to the fact they will wear out faster, but I don't want to do anything that will be over my head on the trails and I have no chance of making it either, it's an embarrasment thing I guess.. )
We don't get a lot of snow here either, but 2 years ago we got 24" in one day. My wifes 2000 Cherokee with Goodyear Wranglers did OK, not awesome by any means, will these 33"s do better or about the same, IF that were to happen today.. (Not that we are expecting any snow at all, damnit.. lol)
Thanks to those that answer, I know this has probably been discussed a million times, but maybe 1 more time won't hurt..
oh yea, what about puncture resistance? The sales guy said these were a little tougher than most tires?

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
My thoughts on the stock Bridgestone tires......
1 to 10 I'd give them an 8
I feel they are very good for trail and semi-dry logging roads
I would not take them in heavy mud
I would pick them over the stock Goodyears
Before I buy different tires I'm going to get my $ out of these
BFG A/T's are my next tires, 295/75/16's
As for the snow I can't say, we just get ice here about once a year
and no tire is good for that

I feel they are very good for trail and semi-dry logging roads and good for rocks and desert travel
I would not take them in heavy mud I did a few weeks ago, and they did a lot better than I thought they would, but still not what I would say is greatI would pick them over the stock Goodyears Oh yes
Before I buy different tires I'm going to get my $ out of these They wear real well, I had two replaced at 16 or 17K and they only dropped about 2-3/32nds in that mileage.

They were good in snow, both for traction and stopping. This year, no snow.

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
No complaints here in Denver during the blizzard we just got. Great traction in snow and ice... almost as good as BFG ATs.
I did some wheeling last fall and the tires have plenty of traction in rock, hardpack and dusty stuff. Got bogged down in some gravel on a hill once where MTs would have helped, but I still made it up with some careful throttle.
Don't have any real mud or sand experience, but others can speak to that.

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
Go out and try them then you will know how they work.
I think they are pretty good all around tire but I wish the outer lugs were a little larger like the BFG AT's

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
Thanks for all the input guys.. I really appreciate it!
I am hoping to go out and do some trail ridin, I am just looking for some folks to go with, since wheelin alone isn't the brightest idea... Especially if you ain't gotta no winch! lol

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
experiment with air pressure too and see what works best in your terrain.
I let my tires down to 20 psi as soon as I hit the dirt. and go from there

They suck balls in mud & deep sand. Everything else I was very pleased with their performance. And they wear very well. I put 19K on mine before replacing them with MT's and they still have a ton of tread on them.

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
They suck so bad it is unbelievable that Hummer would even put them on the H3.
Take it from me. I know. My H3 was totalled after 3K miles when I slid in minor mud into a farm pond. My wife's Jag would have done better in the mud than the H3.
The truck, other than the tires, does very well offroad otherwise.

The problem wasn't the tires.

Re: Question about the stock ADV tires
So far, I've found the stock Bridgestones to be a great multi-purpose tire. Wearing well, good handling, quiet, good traction. I can't tell you about how they do in snow around here. We haven't had one flake. I think I'm causing Northampton County warming by driving my Hummer around. I should have listened to Al Gore. And by the way, he didn't only invent the internet.
