Forget adding an amp to your Bose speakers, but adding an amp and sub to your factory headunit is no problem.

I just got into a little argument with a guy here at work about Bose quality. He's a die hard Bose advocate.
I have heard that while Bose is pretty good, there is much better available. When he asked "oh yeah, like what?" I didn't have an answer as I only told what I had heard.
What's out there that is better? What's considered top of the line? Does the same apply for home stuff too?
I need some info to stuff back at this guy...
Thanks!

I like Bose speakers. Not their tiny ones, but some of the others I've used are great in my view.
When I went shopping for my main channel speakers I stopped and listened to at least 20 pairs of speakers, and by far the Bose 301, 501s??? don't remember, were much more clear and crisp sounding. They didn't have the best base, but since that's what my sub woofer is for, I bought them for the very crisp sound they made in the mids and highs, and the base really wasn't that bad.
Right now I use bose Mains, and Center in my house, and my rears and sides are in ceiling JBL's.
I know there are better speakers.
But consider Price, Styling, and Footprint... I'm a big fan of Bose.
I also think the stock unit sounds pretty damn good. :/ Could use a bit more bass, but I'm satisfied.

I am replacing the Bose speakers with Kicker K65 and K65.2.
They are NOT "Top-of-the-line" but I am told a big step up in quality.
Speaking of sub woofers. Has anyone found a convenient place to mount/install one (hidden)? I do not want a BOX occupying what little storage I already have.

If you want top of the line sound quality for car audio you have a couple choices that blow the bose out of the water. There are Morel Speakers, Focal Speaks and what seems to be the big dog at the momemt rainbow speakers.

I had boston accoustic pros in my viper and they are out of this world with sound quality. I had a lincoln mark VIII that had infinity speakers and after I put a good amp onthem the sounded great but i guess the bose are not to good i guess i will have to reach deeper for new speakers

Just spoke with JL audio yesterday, an H2 stealth box which would mount in the front console will be available in approx 2 weeks.

You can get one that goes under the rear seat from http://www.subbox.net/
I asked the guy for photo's and he didn't have any, so I didn't buy the box.

Don't know anything about speakers.. ALways thought that "Bose" speakers meant really nice sounds.. I may be the only one.. However I'm not impressed with the stock system in our H2's.. The basic system in my older Suburban has a better sound.. Like I said it could just be me... I expected much more.

Detonate - do you know if that raises the height of the seat, or it actually fits underneath?
Pretty cool for an SUT where there is not much room for a box!

I would like to add just a little more bass to my H2, without having to tear up my whole system. Is that possible with the Bose system?
I have a Sony 10inch sub, and a Sony 640 watt Amp, that are ready to be installed, but is it worth installing, and tearing up my factory unit?
Would I need a separate adjustment for the sub, so I can control when I do and do not want the extra thump.
I am not really looking to blast the windows out, and rattle he car next to me, I just want a little more kick.
Let me know what ya'll think!!

Your amp should have some crossover setting on it which will allow you to control the levels of bass in your sub. I have had some subs hooked up to a bose system before. Just make sure to over adjust the subs because if you want more bass turning up the volume turns up the level on the factory speakers and you might blow them.
