That's a Chevy Blazer. How the hell could you think that was a Jeep?
Plus, that clip is ancient history.

To me it looked more like an international (Ive also heard it was a Bronco). As far as ancient history, it is allways a good lesson IMHO to get a reality check to aviod becoming complacent. This could easily happen with A.B.S.

That's an old clip. I think I saw it on realtv a couple of years ago. Apparently the brakes went out at the top, and it was a quick ride to the bottom. No life-threatening injuries if I remember right. The sand pit at the bottom softened the impact. I could be wrong, but I don't think it had anything to do with ABS...I think the husband drove it up, and he decided to let the wife "drive" it down. She was a rookie and had never done it before...

dochummer is right about the details. It was some crappy old Blazer that had a brake failure on the way down, and the inexperienced wife didn't think to throw it into 1st or reverse to stop it. I seem to remember they didn't die but did eat some ca-ca at the bottom when they hit.

That's a pretty cool video. Those little trucks hit a few trouble spots though.

Here's a vid clip from our last trip down Lion's back. Sorry you have to turn your head... and it's pretty slow going - the way you're supposed to take it
