I just heard today, that thiefs are recording the VIN #'s of H2s, calling dealers, and getting the keys!
Anyone heard of this, or had it happen to them?
Looks like I've got to put something on the dash to cover up the VIN.
Anyway, Something To Think About!

Dealers are aware of this and are suppose to ask for identification and proof of ownership before they make a key.

Big Z,
This is a very old trick. that's why I always have something obscuring the last 5-6 of my VIN. Cops and metervampires get pissed and can write a ticket for it though. But I say tough tittie!!

It's tougher than you think to get a key made with only a VIN. No dealer will do it without proof of ownership, usually a drivers license and proof of insurance on the vehicle in question.

Don't our keys have a "transponder" chip in 'm (hm, sounds like Star Trek, Scotty) which the vehicle has to recognize b4 the vehicle starts ignition? Meaning that "spare" keys have to be "signatured" to every vehicle?
