I am using monster with FM modulator and it is less than I like. H3 need an AUX bad.
HEY, is the radio with the disc changer in any other GM auto.

FM Modulators suck major ass. I am seriously thinking about ditching my stereo and adding an Alpine touchscreen and iPod connection to get the job done. My guess is then I'll probably have to buy new speakers and an amp, and kiss OnStar goodbye. Not ready to do all that yet.

I know some people in other cars have used what amounts to a free auxiliary (i.e. audio casette, etc.) deck in their GM cars to hook up a 1/8" miniplug, and they plug their iPod into that. Or, if they don't want to use the six-disc changer (with an iPod, who cares?) they use the plugs for that.
It requires a bit of work to do it (to get behind your stereo), but I imagine a similar thing may be possible on the H3.
I consider the lack of an AUX port to be a major oversight. If I was on the fence, it could literally be the thing to push me over the edge - to the point that I'd even pay $50 for what would probably cost GM $1.00 or less to add.

A buddy of mine has a sweet little monitor in the dash of his Sequoia. We measured it and it would be the perfect fit in the stereo area of our H3's! On top of that, he has a bumper camera mounted on his SUV that is routed directly into the monitor. It's very slick. I'm really struggling to not make that purchase!

I definitely think that the H3 needs an AUX jack....that's something I'll miss when I trade the Element in for the H3. I use it every time I'm in the car...
As for FM modulator's- I think they're pretty much useless. I have the Griffin iTrip and since I live in a fairly large city it's pretty much impossible to find a blank station that I can use to play the iPod.

Words I never thought I would hear, trading an Element for a Hummer
We will have to come up with an iPod solution for you because once you go to a Hummer we can't have you missing anything about your Element

I like to think of it this way.....if the H3 was available 2 1/2 yrs ago- I wouldn't have to trade the Element for a Hummer. I'd already have one

I use an iPod mini with a Belkin TuneBase. It has a gooseneck that allows me to locate my iPod mini low and in front of my manual shifter. The top of iPod ends up lined up with the rear wiper control. It plays throught the radio and works great however I noticed that it's performance is dependent on what vehicle you drive and what area you drive in. My wifes X3 has a little more of a reception problem when using the device. This Belkin Tunebase also charges the iPod mini. See link:

The H3 does have an AUX input, i know because i just hooked my ipod up through it. (I have the basic stereo with the single CD player). If you keep pressing the BAND button, once the ipod is connected to the AUX input, you get the AUX channels (1 and 2).

So is there not an Aux connection on the Monsoon/MP3/Single Disc/AM/FM system?
