Hi Guys,

Thinking of getting a complete set of smoked light lenses (all 18!) for my H2 - I'm sure I saw a picture of a suitably equipped H2 on the site recently but I'll be darned if I can find it. Anyone know which thread it is?...or repost on this thread for me??

Also anyone had this done to their rig?...do you need to change bulbs to brighter or coloured versions?

Here's a shot of me driving down the A1 in Northern England this weekend:

I was under the impression that European authorities were pretty strict about automotive lighting standards. Considering that these lenses are technically illegal in the US, it would seem to be illegal in Europe as well.

Since you are obviously going to attract lots of attention with your H2 there, you might want to check the laws there first.

If you already have checked out the law, I am curious as to what it says.

Hi Guys,

I understand that the lamps are smoked by coating them with some sort of transparent paint. This must have some effect on the light transmission qualities of the lenses.

To counter this I am also told you can fit LED type bulbs - anyone have any experience of these?

I assume they would be needed on the turn signals - front and rear, and stop/brake lights and tail lights?

LEDs since they use such a small amount of current can create voltage problems that will cause the cruise control not to work....been there, done that, have the t-shirt...

Do some research before you use them. There is some type of a load balancer that allows their use.........

I contaced the smoked lamps company and said they currently don't offer lamps for the H2 but thet would do a whole set for $275.00 and I would have to remove all my lights then send them to them have them treat them with the coating and then they would send back to me. The problem with this is you would have to go several days without driving your H2.

Yeah, and you no longer have your stock pieces. I prefer to have my stock parts, and after-market parts, so I can swap it back to stock if need be. Cops around here used to really frown upon the smoked/blacked out lights, but it hasn't been the cool thing to do for a while now and haven't heard much about it. I would really like to do this, but I'd like to have my stock lights to swap in just in case.

Grim,

I understand that a complete set of lenses (18) would be $1300 for a complete set - then the cost of smoking - means $1550 + shipping! for the full effect with you originals in the box as spares!

Would look damn fine on my Black H2 though!

I live in Los Angeles and they did mine for 275.00. I checked with them today and they said they were working on a core set good to go upon order and would wait for customers lights to ship back. I have a friend in florida that's going to do it.
