Allen enjoys 16-to-1 cash advantage over Webb

WASHINGTON ? Even after an extensive ? and expensive ? opening round of television advertising, Republican U.S. Sen. George Allen enters the fall election campaign with a $6.6 million cash reserve, nearly 16 times more than Democratic challenger James Webb, according to new reports.

Financial disclosure forms released Friday from both camps show Allen, a first-term senator who is seeking re-election even as he also explores a 2008 presidential run, already has raised more than $11.2 million.

Webb has collected slightly more than $1 million, including $100,000 he loaned to his campaign before the June 13 Democratic primary.
