I've been thinking about upgrading my shocks. The stock ones are just not doing it for me. They're too mushy under hard braking.
I've been thinking about going with some Edelbrock Xtreme Travel Reservoir Shocks.
I've seen them on an H2 in the showroom, but haven't had a chance to ask any one for an opinion.

Unless you just want the look of the extra reservoir, I would go with their regular IAS shocks. I have used those on several different vehicles and I really like them.
I have been told that the xtreme travel shocks won't offer any better performance that their standard IAS for the H2. If you don't have a lift kit and since we don't have great articulation, the extra travel and extra fluid is not needed.

I did, you knucklehead.
I found the thread with Brklyn, but I wanted to see if anyone else had installed them but hadn't written anything up yet. I was trying to coax some of the newbies or lurkers into participating.

I paid $280 for all 4 Bilsteins instead. It’s the best upgrade for money.

The ride is smoother and better handling compare to OEM.
I got them from here. shox.com

Hummers,
When you say smoother you don't mean softer do you? I'm looking to firm up the ride a bit.
I have 37's on and they seem to be giving the OEM shocks a run for their money.
I want a firm ride with little flex going into corners.

HI Guys, I have them on my rig. 37 MTA's as well. They work great. Like having an extra sway bar on road and very compliant off road.
I have had the shocks on for 32k miles and they are still as new. Great investment in upgrading to any good aftermarket shock.

How hard is replacing the shocks on the H2??
Is jacking-up/lifting the vehicle necessary or can it be done in the driveway?

Edlebrocks, yes jacking up the frame is the easiest as the shocks are fully extended when you get them. The body will lift high enough so the install is easy.

The rising rate self-adjusting design of the Bilstein shock provides softer and firmer depend on the road surface. I feel better ride comfort on rough surface and stability on highway. I was thinking of upgrading sway bar but didn’t want to compromise the off-road capability of the truck.

I tried the IAS on my Tahoe. They were great on the road, but awful offroad. Way too much rebound over uneven surfaces.

I think they both use the same technology except the pistons on the extreme travel are thicker and, of course, you have the extra oil.
I've had them on F250, Expedition and a Jeep and thought they tamed everything well and didn't allow for sway on the highway. Personally, I think they stop the rebound extremely well compared to anything else I've had, even Rancho 9000s.

I put the Rancho RS9000X on my H2. Way better performance both on and off road. I like how you can adjust the shock to 9 different settings. While on the road I set them at 4 and when off road adjust them to 7.
