Default starting issues..

so.. new member here..

anyways.. i picked up a 03 H2 Lux with 68k miles for $19k w/ 1 year extended warranty. loaded except for nav unit and DVD.

so my issue is, when i turn the key to start up, there is a delay of up to 2 secs or so before the engine with turn over.

brand new battery to rule out that issue since the dealer had a charger on the battery when i test drove it. so didnt have faith in that and replaced it.

there is a alarm system on it, but the positive waires were so badly corroded that it was disconencted, so i also disconencted the neg wire for it also.

so nothing is conencted to the battery, or the altenator. not sure what else could be the issue other than the starter... which im basiclly using you guys to confirm my thinking..

so, what ya guys think?

also, thought maybe it could be the key. im not sure if the 03 models have the transponder keys or not. also not sure if this is a OEM key or a remake.. but it is branded H2 on it.

Get a new ignition. Do a search on ignition, they fail all the time

Yep, it's the ignition switch. I had the same problem with my '03. Except for the fuel gauge sender, that's the only problem I ever had to have fixed under warranty on my '03. The '06 and newer ignition is improved and it should last. I'm pretty sure all the ones GM stocks are the new improved switch - don't get an old NOS from a dealer, make sure it was made after '05.
