Some customers may comment that when the roof-mounted off-road spot lamps are
on, the electronic brakes on the trailer are always applied.</P><A
name=ss2-1459306><A

<H5>Cause</A></H5>


The cause of this condition may be due to the roof-mounted off-road spot lamp
wiring harness and the electronic brake controller wiring harness using the same
Mid BEC connector cavity. If a customer attempts to tow a trailer equipped with
electronic brakes and does not use a controller (requiring them to remove the
roof-mounted off-road spot lamp wiring harness from the Mid BEC), the trailer's
electronic brakes will be activated when the Roof-Mounted Off-Road Spot Lamps
are turned on.</P><A name=ss3-1459306><A
href="http://127.0.0.1:9001/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1459306&pubid=293&evc=sm#ss3-1459306">
<H5>Correction</A></H5>


To prevent activation of the trailer's electronic brakes, a modification to
the off-road spot lamp wiring harness must be performed. Use the procedure
listed below.</P>
  1. <LI type=1>Remove the lower left side I/P MID-BEC (electrical center) cover.
    <LI type=1>Remove the brown connector (C7) from the MID-BEC.
    <LI type=1>Remove the blue terminal lock from the connector.
    <LI type=1>Remove the purple wire (CKT2234) and terminal from cavity C
    in the connector.
    <LI type=1>Reinstall the terminal lock into the connector.
    <LI type=1>Cut the terminal off the purple wire.
    <LI type=1>Insert the purple wire into heat shrink tubing and heat the tubing
    until it sufficiently wraps the wire.
    <LI type=1>Tape the purple wire back 75mm (3in) from the
    connector.
    <LI type=1>Reconnect the connector into the MID-BEC. Make sure the connector
    is fully seated and engaged. </LI>

Two new part numbers have been released for Roof-Mounted Off-Road Spot Lamp
package kits. These new kits contain a revised wiring harness. Use this
information when ordering new kits.</P>

Klaus, what about the front off road light option that uses the same plug in that the roof harness would use? Does that engage the brakes as well?
