There is war in Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran is building nuclear weapons, and Hamas has been elected on a platform of destroying Israel.
In the face of all this, on Friday, Feb 17, CNN broadcast a special investigation on -- get this -- the quality of ice in 7-11s and fast food restaurants. THE QUALITY OF ICE IN 7-11s AND FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS.
I didn't think they could top their incompetent, biased reporting. But they have.

What could possibly be more important than the food our families and children eat?
All that middle east crap is thousands of miles away.
The ice affects us here & now.
Wake up guy.
BTW... your trucks are killing the planet.

I don't think you understand.
You are obviously a very smart guy. Accomplished a lot or else you wouldn't be able to get such an expensive truck.
Yet you can't appreciate the importance of simple things like clean food and air.
Slow down and smell the wildflowers. You are missing out on the good stuff.
Hugs...

Keep it coming Pink Lantern. You're doing a good job of articulating your fellow leftists' philosophy. It helps us keep focus.

I can tell from the 'tude behind your post that you and I aren't going to agree on much, but I can see you are on of the mature ones around here. Obviously you not one of those nancy boys that duck the arguement when it comes up.
So lets have it out.
The real problem, the reason why we are in a world of hurt over in the middle east is that we consume way too much without planning for the future. We piss away most of what we get... then we take from little countries leaving them in poverty so we can consume thier resources.
The soldiers we have over ther have REAL balls. They don't have to pretend to be tough or brace they are. I sure as hell didn't have the balls to go.
My point is this: We owe it to our soldier not to piss away thier lives to allow the wealthy few to live in wasteful luxury.
What do I wanna see? I want to see market driven incentives (not taxes) for energy reform. How about NO ROAD FUEL TAX on biodiesel for 10 years? That would do something, hell it would even make your H1 cheaper to drive...
How that for a flaming liberal? We're not all stupid you archie bunker wanna be. We just admit we care about people and want a community.
Real me aren't afraid to face the facts. War for oil is our own fault. Should we win... yeah we sort of have to at this point. But we should at leasst TRY to make sure we don't have to piss away the lives of our men in uniform.
They matter most. Even if they do come from the ranks of the disproportionally poor.
The ball is in your court....

Pinkie, as a real man and a soldier who just returned from Iraq I’d like to invite you to take your ball and shove it up you’re a’ss!
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">My point is this: We owe it to our soldier not to piss away thier lives to allow the wealthy few to live in wasteful luxury. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Who in the FU’CK do you think you are coming here and spewing this sh’it! My Task Force lost 10 good men over there, 2 on a convoy I was on and you’re going to hide behind the internet and say their lives were pissed away!? FU’CK YOU ASS’WIPE!!! We were over their defending your right to be a complete and total fu’cking idiot.
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">War for oil is our own fault. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Jesus H Christ I’m sick and tired of hearing bullsh’it like this. Anyone with half a brain could see it’s wrong. If we went to war for oil why the fu’ck did I pay $3.30 a gallon when I came home for leave in August and the Iraqis were paying 5 cents a gallon? Why don’t you come up with a new line that makes a half an ounce of common sense.
<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> They matter most. Even if they do come from the ranks of the disproportionally poor. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Another lie from the pit of Hell. You’ve got your head shoved so far up you’re a’ss you haven’t seen the light of day in years. The last time I checked I wasn’t poor. Neither was anyone in my unit. If we’re disproportionately (learn to spell jack’ass) anything it’s conservative. Maybe in the fantasy world you live in we’re poor but those of us living in the real world are doing just fine.
I’d like to invite you to take you and you’re attitude problem and get the fu’ck out of our AO. I really hate people that stick their nose into somebody else’s business and that fits you to a T. You have the right to hate Hummers and all SUV’s (service members like me gave it to you) but you don’t have the right to come here and run your mouth. So take your ball and run home to Mama.

Tell me how you really feel…
Who am I to come in here? Me.
Remember … you were supposedly fighting for my right to be me. Then you get all mad when I don’t say the words you want to hear.
I am sorry about the losses in you unit. I just feel that they shouldn’t be dead right now.
Is it so bad for me to be angry that they died? Is it so bad I care?
That I complain that they died?
Is it bad that I complain bitterly?
It wasn’t meant to trivialize the deaths. It was to complain about them dying.
One point I concede is that I will complain in a more respectful way. But that’s all.
Call me simple to object to the fact they were sent over there. I don’t question their honor. I do question the policies that brought all this about.
I think our leadership has failed to do the right thing time after time. This includes Clinton. This war didn’t have to happen. Now we have to win it and we will.
Let's examine parts of your post:
“Jesus H Christ I’m sick and tired of hearing bullsh’it like this. Anyone with half a brain could see it’s wrong. If we went to war for oil why the fu’ck did I pay $3.30 a gallon when I came home for leave in August and the Iraqis were paying 5 cents a gallon?”
Of course the war isn’t directly to get the oil simpleton. But dependence on oil funnels billions of dollars to these countries and gives them the money they need to cause problems, invest in WMD, and nukes.
Let me surprise you: I think Bush honestly believed there were WMD and that those WMD were hidden. Oil wasn’t the first reason… but it’s foolish to say it’s not part of the equation.
“Another lie from the pit of Hell… The last time I checked I wasn’t poor. Neither was anyone in my unit.”
Depends on you standards of what is poor I guess.
Fact is there are a lot of people in the military who would not have joined if they had other opportunities for advancement or ways to afford college.
Oh yeah, My sister, an Air Force pilot, joined because we were poor and she wanted college. Found a good life there she did.
But what do I know.
“If we’re disproportionately (learn to spell jack’ass) anything it’s conservative.”
Try using the words “intolerant of those that do not support us in EXACTLY the manner we want to be supported” in place of the word “conservative.”
Also work on YOUR spellings of the words: bull****, jackass, and ****.
I’ll work on my spelling of disproportionately.
"I’d like to invite you to take you and you’re attitude problem and get the fu’ck out of our AO. I really hate people that stick their nose into somebody else’s business and that fits you to a T."
Yeah you sure can't handle anyone that doesn’t see it EXACTLY your way.
"You have the right to hate Hummers and all SUV’s (service members like me gave it to you) but you don’t have the right to come here and run your mouth."
A) My rights were given me by GOD, not by you arrogant over-inflated self-righteous self.
B) I don’t hate Hummers, actually I think they’re one of the cooler trucks I have ever seen.
C) I have every right to voice my opinion. You gave me that right, remember?
"So take your ball and run home to Mama."
Not going happen. What are you afraid of a discussion?
"We sleep safe in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.---George Orwell"
No kidding--- We just shouldn’t abuse their willingness to serve us. It's a dangerous world. We need these men. And yes, I do feel we have abused that loyalty.
I support out troops. I also think that moving forward we need to make some changes. Without change we are going to keep going back there again and again. We need to be energy independent so we can stop feeding cash into the middle-east problem machine.
I don’t dispute that the men in you unit were more than honorable. My point is the whole situation was avoidable. (I know that will piss you off, I am respectfully sorry, and I am standing by it.)
Even if it wasn’t avoidable, we must make changes to avoid repeating it in the future.
People will never stop driving there cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Never stop heating homes and running businesses.
It would be utterly stupid and try to cure the energy shortage by, dare I jest, eliminating Hummers. Yeah, I'll razz you about it. But the truth is a jeep with big tires is not much better.
But we can fuel both vehicles with biofuels like millions of people in Brazil do with dual-fuel cars every day.
The ball is in your court.
I'm still here.
