Ok so the factory navigation in my 2004 H2 has been working like crap and the dealer said bring it in. They told me they were going to replace the nav and the antenna. I picked up the truck and noticed that all my radio stations were still set and all my way points were still in the memory. The nav still worked like garbage. I called the service tech and he said that they replaced the brain of the nav but not the head unit. I think I have to call Bull**** but dont want to say anything until I know for sure. Does anyone think they can just replace a "brain", and if so can all the memory remain untouched. Thanks for the info if you know.

I am pretty sure it's BS. They don't open up the radios at the dealerships. Fact might be that they could not find an INR to replace it with.
They simply do not "work" on the radios themselves.

I agree with Paragon. At most they may have replaced the antenna. Most likely they did nothing.
What does your copy of the work order say? It would be interesting to call Hummer and ask them about it. Sounds like the dealer could be pulling a scam to get free NAV units through warranty claims.

Thanks for the feed back and with Klaus's confirmation I will feel fine about raising hell. Thanks again.

It would be interesting to see exactly how they billed it out though. To see if they made a warranty claim for "replacing the brain."
"replace the brain," that's a new one.

Al,
I would suggest you just confront them with the fact that the problem has not been fixed. Calling them liars will probably not help get the problem solved.

Klaus is right, but still tell us what the original work order says on how they "fixed" it.

I talked with my service writer and he said he was going to check with the tech and see what he said. I will keep you posted on results. I have had a good relationship with the dealer to date so your probably right about any aggressive allegations.
