Upgraded my 35" spare to 37"MT/R (thanks partsguy! ). But now HALF of my backup camera is covered by the tire!! I can't relocate the camera cause it's gonna leave a big hole in my bumper! Worse, if I use the soft tire cover, it covers 3/4 of the camera!!
WHAT TO DO???

Why dint you leave the current camera inplace but disconnect it then re ount a new on. It will look trick, but also serve the purpose of filling the hole.

Churchill, thanks for the real sugestion (the rest of yous can KISS MY ASS! ), 'cept I can't figure out where else to drill. It's center and as low as possible already (see pic).. Btw, that's the 35" MTR. The 37" sits lower still...

Buy a spare tire mount extension. Then cut it in half and weld in a plate that will raise your spare about two inches. Any machine shop or better garage should be able to do it in short order. Had to do the same thing with an old jeep I had so that I could use the hitch. Hope it helps.

Is it really blocking you from seeing or do just not like seeing the tire.
You could fashion a piece of sheet metal that would bolt (with a large bolt and washer) in the current hole and let the metal come down to the top of the hitch and mount the camera in that sheet metal.

I would get a new bumper because the hole that's there is off-center.

Screeper, I googled spare tire extentions. While I like the 2" rise, not sure about the 2" back.
edit: Wont work! Damn! The SMA carrier has that "pipe" middle section (where you can attach a padlock)...

Not sure about attaching any sheet metal on my beautiful, recently detailed PEWTER POWER!! rig...

No, the question is where can I put the new hole/camera? Below the current hole, the bumper "bend" inwards. Anywhere off-center, I think I'll have a vertigo-inducing image due to the 110degrees field of vision..

Umm... Sheet metal is all the bumper is made from. You simply paint it black and it will blend with the bumper if you cut it and form it right. Kills 2 birds with one stone.
On my camera, which is not installed yet because we are going to use it in Moab, there are some offset rings that allow you to adjust the angle. So, you move the camera over and it will be slightly angled inboard. I don't like it because it will make hooking up to a trailer useless with the camera.
So, I am go to have a piece of metal made to fill the gap just above the hitch (between your current postion and the hitch) and mount the camera in it.

Oh look, here's a plug that's not doing anything. Just remove it and mount the camera there!
