Default Boulder Accessories Roof Rack-Upgraded

Soo..... I got my BA roof rack off of Ebay the beginning of July. It was an AWESOME buy at $152 plus shipping. It really is a nice product. And really it looked nice on the truck as well.

But it needed some help. It looked a little too plain

So I added some lights. I was on a budget so I bought some cheapies.

I really needed the additional rear lights for backing the boat at night in particular. But I also wanted some light out the side as well. Its really hard to see out the truck at night with the windows beeing tinted so dark. So I bought some cheap LED driving lights that were blue in color. They were only available in a chrome finish and I really did not want them to stand out so I took care of that.

Most off all the wiring was run inside of the roof rack tubes as well to keep it protected and looking nice. I used a 4 pin trailer harness as a plug for the lights so the rack can easly be removed from the truck if need be.

I also finally got the spare tire out of the H2 and on top. This was also VERY easy to do. The only thing I had to purchase was a 24" piece of 1/2" all thread from Home Depot for $3. I rolled the all thread in a piece of Gorilla tape. "like a hot dog in a bun". That way it does not scratch anything up during installation etc....

I used the factory inside mounting plate and threaded hook. And the all thread runs under 6-8 of the roof rack bars to distribute the weight of the tire.

And here is the look I got.

So after a drive I started to notice that on large potholes I could hear the rack hitting the roof of the truck. Not really that big of a deal. But I wanted this to be right. The weight of the tire was flexing the rack. So I took the rack back off of the truck and found some rubber stoppers from Home Depot you put on the bottom of chairs. I put 8 of them under the tire its self and another 8 throughout the rest of the rack so if it had a load for anymore flexing it would flex very little and rest on the H2 roof quietly. (As a heads up I have walked across the roof of this truck and its Damn stout. I am no small guy either at 6'1" 200lbs.

If you look closely you can see the rubber stoppers between the rack and the ridges on the roof

When I wired it up. I used 6 gage power wire and brought it off the main fuse panel under the hood of the truck and routed it through the firewall and up over the doors into the rear drivers quarter panel. I mounted it to the wall and terminated it into a 1 into 4 distribution block. It is accessible very easly buy pulling the bin out of the interior fender cover. I mounted my 2 relays on the wall as well. I do not have a picture of it YET.

I ran 2 switches for the relays up front as shown below.

Here are some night pics, They did not come out too well but some of them actually show the light pattern.

So what do you guys think

Does this company still make roof racks? I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find any.

Looks good Eric. I just finshed mounting 4 Hella 550 driving lights to the factory roof rail. They are crazy bright.
