I didn't get a front guard on my H3 because I thought it looked too flismy. This guard looks a little beefier than the stock guard, yet I don't think it looks as pretty. I wonder if the fitment is good though. And I also don't like the finish.

I don't think the front guard looks flimsy and looks great on my Boulder Grey.
The one on Ebay looks too oversized

I drive in the tx hillcountry quite a bit at night, so I want a guard that could handle an impact with a deer.

Have no experience with contact with a deer but I would recommend you check out the factory guard and its flexibility before going the other route

Both gaurds attach the same way. Neither will protect you from a collision with a large deer. But the factory gaurd was designed to work with your airbag system. You need to be carefull when messin around up there. I personaly like the factory gaurd.

Any authorized GM accessory the affects crash worthiness has to be tested in a crash. However, if the front grille guard installs the same, it should not affect the operation of the SDM. However, it could, and I say COULD, affect the operation of the two front deployment sensors.
I actually like the look of this one better, but for safety reasons, I would probably go with the GM item that has passed a crash test.
(Please note, this is my own personal opinion, and not the opinion of any other entity.)

Does the factory guard have a place for aux lights?
