I was told by the dealer when I picked up my H3 tonight that oil change was about 12,000 miles or 12 months. So, looks like you have a while to go.

What ever happened to the every 3,000 miles?
That's what I did with my last 2 vehicles. Should I hold off?

I have always changed my oil at about 3,000 miles. I have 7000 miles on my H3, and I have had 2 oil changes. The oil in the vehicle was very dirty both times.
My service manager said the oil indicator can be wrong and should not be totally trusted. My salesman said the indicator was reliable. I trust the service manager more.
Better safe than sorry for me.

What looks like dirty oil, may not actually be dirty oil; only way to really tell is to have it analyzed.
In regard to the service manager, he or she makes bonuses on oil changes, so yes, they will say the computer is not reliable. In fact, the dealers were extremely upset when this system was developed, it cut into their shop profits. Then on the other hand, the salesman is trying to sell cars.
Except for the first oil change, I would go with the computer. It is programmed to know the wear cycle of the oil, how the additives breakdown, etc.
Only thing I would watch out for is if you use an oil/foam type filter that allows in more dirt than a paper filter.

Got home last night, just "mopped out the interior," and going outside again in a few minutes to get the doggie drool of the rear trim panels . If the sun comes out, I will wash off the suicidal bugs off the front grill and mirrors.
Trip was too short, but it was fun...always is when you visit an ex-girlfriend.

Glad you had a good time. Always fun to visit old girl friends Great report on the trip in the other thread BTW. Got to hate the doggie drool but having a great dog makes it worth it.
