I am really interested in installing this unit in my H3. I would love to hear anyones experience with the fit of the device and other installation considerations.
I would like to understand if the Naviation control bypass while driving hack still works for this unit.
Thanks in advance.

I installed the avic-N1. at least i think thats right. It had the fold out screen and all the options like nav, xm, av inputs, back up camera. well it wasn't too bad the key was to get the rigth parts like the onstar interface module and the correct pocket to hold the unit in the dash with out looking like dunn. I also had to modify there wiring due the onstar module. let me know if I can help.

AVN2454 is a nice unit indeed. I am an XM Radio fan so that is why i am leaning towards the AVIC-D1 for the H3. I'm just trying to find someone who has installed one in a H3 to find out if there are any gotchas.

I tried to get the Avic-D1 installed last friday. I found out that I will need a tuner, and the Onstar connection. I checked ebay and got the nav traffic tuner for $114 (normally $330). The Onstar connection is the Onstar/Monsoon adapter OS4, but I've only found one company that sells it. I'm not sure if the OS1 or OS2 will work with out splicing wires. Check out 12volts warehouse for deals on the Avic-D1. I got it for $1065 with $300 rebate.

Firm do you know about connecting the purple wires toegther from the factory harness.OS-2 does work fine with aftermarket radio. There are either 2 or 3 purple wires in factory harness that need to be connected to each for the radio to work.

sorry a little late, the dash kit is a part #gm380 from american international and the annt. kit is #gm-6 also thru A.I. The on star interface module is # gm2h24 from perifrail. all of these parts Stereo King had in stock here in portland. also you will have to connect the two ppl. wires to the class 2 so it bypasses thru the radio and the amp power will be the radio acc. power or ing. source. gook luck! let me know if I can help at all.

Thanks for the info techray,
Firm, have you installed yet? I would love to see pics. Techray installed the AVIC-N1, I am leaning towards the AVIC-D1 to fill the double din.
I am about ready to pull the trigger. I found a price that seems too good to be true. $970 with no rebates.

They have decent reseller ratings. Firm, where did you buy yours?

D1 is a nice unit. I went with the N2 myself for the stealth look. Nothing says steal me morw that that double DIN unit sitting in there visible to the person peeking in your window.

First Hummer,
sorry it took so long to get back to you. I think with the OS-4 you don't have to splice any wires, just plug and go.
The D1 should fit, I've seen the Excelon fit. The dash kit comes with the D1.
theadlee- I bought mine from 12 voltswholesale through ebay.
I'm still waiting for the tuner to come, then I will install it.

ok, sorry about the mix up I forgot the d1 was a double decker. have you got everything in order yet. if not I will get you the exact numbers for your unit. just beware the on-star modules may or maynot be a plug-in play. from what i have heard from multi people in the audio biz. Due to the fact the H3 is so new still. either way It is do able and easy. just gotta spend some time to get all the right parts first. sorry about the mix up !

Don't know if you guys ever bought your D1's or N2's, but Pioneer just announced a $300 consumer rebate on both pieces until the end of the year. The D1 is a double din (same as 2 isos just not using a sleeve to mount) and will fit nicely in your H3 dash! Best kits makes a kit # GMK 422 that will mount it nicely with some easy modificaion (make your own tabs).
