Default I got STUCK!!!! ON Star thanx for nothing!!!

Ok guys heres my story:

I took the rig off roading friday night. Up in Cleveland National Forest here in Corona. While going up a hill ( that seemed to be used to Dirt Bike jumps), I change my mind about going up, about half way up. And I proceeded to put the rig in reverse. The rig rolled back a couple of feet and then kept slinding side ways... Into a really muddy patch ... Tried to put it in 4Lo + TC2 + rear Lock. And all I did was get stuck deeper and deeper...

Worst thing was it was 11:30pm at night. I hopped out of the H2 to look at my situation. And as soon as I saw how low the rear end was ... I already know how F#@K I was ... So I went back in the H2 and hit the OnStar. And yes it was raining. They answer and I gave them my LAT and LONG ... And they called around for different tow truck companies to winch me out. Pretty much at 12:30am I was told your screwed. Until the mud drys up. Because it was at a dirt road there was no tow truck that would go out there to get me...

Call my buddy, who live 2 blocks away from me ... He came up with his TACO and we proceeded to try to dig me out... First we laid down wood after digging some holes to get down to the bottom of the tires. Then we air the BFG's down, to practically nothing. he hooked up his TACO to my rig with a chain and we straight busted the chain... Then some people stop and tried to help us out... We tried to pull with the TACO and 9 people pushed... Nothing....

At about 2:30am we called it quits... I called around some tow truck companies and found Hamner Towing ... They told me $125.00 + 10% fuel charged... Hamner came out picked me up at my house which was a few blocks away from the road I was stuck in ... The winched me out and I got to look at how deep of a hole I really was in... The front passenger tire was in soo deep that The mud was touching the top of my front fender wells... And Because of that my passenger side steps was FUBAR'ed ...

After 8 hours of using my neighbors pressure washer... I got pretty much all the mud out of the H2 and out of my drive way... I learn a lot of lessons out of this... 1) dont go off roading at night 2) dont go alone 3) get better tires 4) air them suckers down before 5) found new respect for off roaders...

p.s. anyone have chrome side steps for sale ????

1. You went out wheeling alone.
2. You went out unprepared - no recovery gear.
3. You went at night on an unfamiliar trail.

Not sure why you're pissed at On Star... seems you should be pissed at the real problem.

YOU.

You went out alone.

You went out at night.

You took a stock H2. (though very capable, they're not impervious to failures (mechanical and ability))

You went out mudding when it was raining...

Seems a little lack of judgement on when and where to go offroading.

On Star did what it was suppose to.

Glad you got out okay, just be glad you got out so cheap. The last time I had to be pulled out was trying to rescue my buddy at 2am in a muddy field. The tow company charged him 325 bucks to bring a bulldozer out there at that time and pull out 3 vehicles.

(nope, wasn't in the H2)

Once you're stuck in deep mud you better start looking for help, 4-low is a no no!

Going out alone was the first mistake as other's have pointed out, but I think using a TACO for your recovery was the second.

Nachos Bell Grande would have been a better choice.

You're joking about being pissed at onstar right?

I am curious though, your situation was classified as a "vehicle recovery" and not just a tow right?

At least onstar was civil to you. When I sunk the titanic (my old H3), I was 40 feet from the curb, with a nice flat dry approach, and On star told me to F*** myself (not exactly their words, but sufficiently close) because they do send tow trucks off the pavement under any circumstances.

The lady precedeed to make it clear she had no tolerance for off roaders and was not interested in helping.

I was lucky. The Fort Worth Hummer dealer went WAY out of their way to help me out, and I got the little squirt into the shop. Of course as some of you know, it was to no avail. Water + Hummer = totalled (in my case).

Of course also in my case Water + H3 = H2
