Keeping my eye out for a programmer that will work with a 2005. Let me know if anyone has one they want to unload!

Beware of used programmers that are vin locked; then they are only good for diagnostics.

yeah i dont think a used programmer will work unless u send it back to the manufacturer to have cleared, and that prolly costs the same as a new onw

as long as the original owner took the program out (put back to stock settings) it will work in the new application.

I hope Dan doesn't mind the hijacking (at least it's keeping his thread up top), but with my Superchips programmer, I thought that once I programmed my truck the first time, it could never be used to reprogram a different vehicle. I seem to recall that everytime I plugged it in, even when I just went back from stock (reset to stock for trip to dealer) to change the program again, it gave me the "VIN locked" message.
I'm wrong, I guess?

Hypertechs aren't that way. Don't know about Superchips. Hypertechs can be used on many trucks, but just on one at a time.

Well, the more I think about it, the more I think that it sounds pretty reasonable to assume that Superchips would work the same way. I'd assume that the ultimate goal is to prevent you from buying only one programmer to tune a butt-load of your buddies' trucks, and working like that surely would accomplish that goal.

Pretty soon CD's will be like that.
From a company stand point If they didn't do that then they would only sell one.

Dan I have a programmer around here.Bought for the 03. I didn't think it was good for anything else. I'll send it to you for shipping. I'll go try to find it tomorrow. I got it from Xtreme Hummer. It was called Pro Flash...
