Has anyone had any experience with an AutoPage 885 Alarm and Remote Start unit interfering with the NAV unit. I picked up my H2 today after having the new alarm installed and now the NAV Unit won't bring up the Dest. screen. When you press that button, the screen changes to the white H2 Boise Sound screen which is followed by the DVD scheck screen. The GPS seems to work as the current location is displayed, but if you try to access the Dest screen or the Memory Points screen, the NAV unit acts like it is powering up again.

I got the Autopage alarm/remote start installed as well on my '05 H2. No problems with the NAV whatsoever.
However, one thing I did notice is that there is a "Service 4WD" error message displayed after I do a remote start and jump into the truck. It is cleared when I just hit one of the INFO (like gas mileage for instance) buttons or if I restart the car.
I cannot confirm on the Autopage model. Could check that this evening.

Just a quick update - we have disconnected the alarm system and the problem still exists so it's going back to the dealer tomorrow for their input.
Greenhummer - I showed your reply to my alarm dealer and he said mine did that too at first until he realized he had an unpowered wire, whatever that means.

hey DrG,
Any chance of getting specific info on that "unpowered wire"? I'd love to have that error message fixed. Just a minor irritation but nevertheless an irritation.

Greenhummer,
Here's the skinny as I know it. Depending on the model of alarm you have, there should be a 5 wire harness on your alarm that sends one wire to the starter, two to the ignition switch and then a orange and brown wire make up the balance of the group. The orange and brown wire should be sending 12 volts to whatever they plug into or the sensor thinks the error is present. My guy says he can send a diagram if you need it. It is important to know here if you installed it or a "pro" and what model you have. Now, I am still vague on this 5 wire harness deal because I also long eplaination of how the alarm control box sends all its commands to one purple that attaches to the OBD port. He calls it a something bus wire or bus something wire. It's all computerized as you know.
On a related subject, my dealer has ordered a new head unit for my SUV saying some hardware has gone out in it. I think the dealer going to blame the alarm guy for the problem but also says that this is the first head unit that they have had to order.
I have quit using the Autopage system as it needs to be reprogrammed due to unplugging it while it was at the dealer and it has forgotten it's settings. It now runs the siren for 5 seconds before the remote start. It's great fun.
