Line-X Everything
Tired of that cheap plastic...I was...now it's coated in Line-X and I would highly recommend this to anyone who's looking to improve the look, feel and durability of there interior.
I had the cargo area pieces sprayed on both sides to give it extra durability and strength. I've also done the front bits by the hood release latch (and the passenger-side equivalent), sill plates, mirror covers and the pillar trim between the front and back doors...basically everything but the A-pillar and the dash.
I had them test spray some extra dash pieces, but the fit is too tight on some of the parts to get them back together correctly. The next parts will be the door panels...waiting on a cool weekend to effect my mirror repair (old style mirrors that don't retract) which will require me to remove the front panels, then I'll drop them off while I'm working on the mirror issue.
After that I'm toying with removing the fabric from the headliner's 'cardboard' and having them spray it with Line-X Extra grey...but that might not be until spring. They want a piece to test spray.
Just thought I'd share this successful mod.

Re: Line-X Everything
Wholy crap dude! That looks killer! I had no idea you could line-x thin plastic like that, how much more stronger is it??
And btw, where did you get that divider... door... thingy? Never seen it.
Good job man.

Re: Line-X Everything
All of the pieces feel MUCH stronger...the cargo area pieces (wheel-well covers, and rear door panel) that I had 'encapsulated' (sprayed on both sides) really feel like they could take a beating...whereas before I winced each time something heavy slid around and smacked into them.
The gate is a Precision Pet Vehicle Barrier...you can find them at Petco or on Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/Precision-Pet-...2570124&sr=8-2
If you install it upside down the sucker works perfect in an H2. The ends of the bars are interchangable and adjustable so you can make it follow the contours of the moldings very well. It keeps those dirty little puppies in the back...in a nice little Line-X box.

Re: Line-X Everything
Very intuitive
Not something that would work for my SUT but I still have a general question. By encapsulating the panels you definately made them stronger.
Before spraying the panels, did they have any give? Do they still have give?
I have no experience with line x but I'm just imagine a candy type shel that would chip and crack if hit hard enough or if was bent.
Looks amazing though! Great idea!

Re: Line-X Everything
Before spraying they had a good deal of give...too much in my opinion. They always felt to me as if they could be easily cracked if they took a hard blow.
The Line-X doesn't get as ridged as you are thinking...it doesn't chip like a candy shell would; it's got flexibility to it. They still have give but not nearly as much and you can tell that it can take a lot more punishment.

Does the truck sound, feel more solid? Did it help deaden any rattleage ( is that a word?)

The parts definately feel more solid. Everything feels more 'substantial.' It also eliminated all of the squeakage/rattleage (to coin a phrase) from the cargo area. I can't wait to get the door panels done...that's where most of my squeaking comes from.

The whole thing cost just under $1,000. That included:
Rear door panel (spray on both sides)
Left and right rear wheel-well sections (spray on both sides)
Trim above and below the rear door
Trim above the cargo area windows
Left and right pillar trim between second row and cargo area
All four door sills
Left and right pillar trim between front and second row seats
Left and right trim in the front (where the hood release is and the opposite corressponding piece)
Both side mirror caps
Both exterior side vents (just above the hood latches)
Both Predator cowl light moldings (the ones that replace the 'bumps' just outside the windshield)

Re: Line-X Everything
Did you have to remove all the pieces and drop them off? I removed some of the pieces in the past, and a couple of them were a pain getting back in.

Re: Line-X Everything
Yep...took them all out myself. I've had that truck apart so many times I've got it down to a science.
I dropped them off and picked them up a few days later. Everything snapped right back into place.

Re: Line-X Everything
How much did all the pieces so far cost you?
It really looks awesome!
Does it smell differently now that those pieces inside your truck?...vs. normally it being done to the back of a truck

Re: Line-X Everything
It was just under $1,000 for all the interior pieces (listed above).
The front/back bumpers and the side trim cost me about $600.
The door panels will probably be another $400-500 'cause I'm gonna have them encapsulated too. So I'll have about $2,000 wrapped up in Line-X when I'm done...well worth it to me.
The interior smelt a bit of hot rubber the first day or two...but the parts were still warm when I picked them up. Now (about a week later) it's just the regular ole truck smell...LOL.

Looks good Guru! I see you're out of Gburg...I'm in southern MD (Waldorf). The line-x was a great idea and I'd really like to get a closer look at your work sometime soon if you don't mind.

I got a buddy that lives out in your neck of the woods...he's been worrying me to death to come out and hang with him one Saturday. Maybe one weekend in September I'll come down your way.
Your truck looks like a beast...but I got two questions for you:
1. Where did you get that brush guard?
2. Do you ever get that thing dirty? My truck doesn't like to mingle with 'city trucks?' LOL
