Towin' towin' towin'....
Got a new trailer. The poor 3.5 isn't too happy about it, but does ok.

Re: Towin' towin' towin'....
Looks good!!! The I-5 is capable of a lot more then that.. I have a dual axle flatbed that I'v towed just about everything with. My heaviest load was a 2003 Ford Cargo Van.... I even tow my camper trailer out into the sand dunes of Pismo... Have more faith in the I-5! Heres something I tow a lot! Sorry for the crappy picture!

The trailer's 500lbs, the quad's almost 700lbs. I live straight up in the mountains. Flatland towing would be a lot easier. I have to rev the peeos out the poor thing!
I get about 14mpg towing.

Huck - 14 mpg is not bad while towing in the mountains at altitude. btw, were you going to do the PCM swap?

Re: Towin' towin' towin'....
Yeah, I tow a small enclosed utility trailer and occasionally a 1/4 ton military trailer I got a couple months ago. The H3 pulls them, but it doesnt care for the hills though!
But it gets the job done in style...so who cares?

Yeah, I've thought about it on and off due to the rave reviews on this site. I'm waiting to see how my dealer's willing to treat me on the Alpha! Remember, the 14 is for the tank. I get to coast the 45 miles back down hill!
Brave soul indeed. You'd think so too if you were trying to pass cattle trucks going uphill with blind curves! I'm tellin' ya, it's barely capable of that kind of duty.
Flatlanders? Hell, they could tow anything with the H3, doesn't matter.

You can guess the dealer will treat you well for the Alpha, only if you bring about $25K cash to trade the O6 in for an Alpha (w/tax and lic.). For those of us that are trading, that's one damn expensive V8 and cast iron front diff.
Nothing sucks away power like high altitude. Huck - ever driven a turbo or supercharged vehicle at altititude? It's amazing how much power is retained with an injected turbo or supercharged motor.

Re: Towin' towin' towin'....
Y'know, that supercharger sounds pretty good!
ACTUALLY, that price is getting pretty close to a Denali 6.2 six speed truck price!
I don't know, considering that what you just said about the price of the H3 Alpha is probably very close to reality, I may just hang onto my old one.
You really gotta love the H3, and I do, to justify driving one when you could go down and buy a fully loaded LTZ Z71 with the 6.0 VortecMax for the same price.
Just food for thought.

Re: Towin' towin' towin'....
My wife's been towing the 3 horse slant trailer w/ the H3, it does fine w/ one horse (about 4500#) but I haven't hooked up the brakes yet.
I'm waiting on the alpha but decided to go ahead and get an 07 for now since they have some decent pricing on them now.
We'll see how the little extra power does for the summer.
I'll get a pic next time it's hooked up.

I'm a little jaded in what constitutes real torque. Our Denali makes our H3 feel downright anemic towing the same load. Our Dmax makes them both seem puny. The H3's no tow rig. It's not meant to be. Heck, they didn't even bother tossing in the tow/haul mode.

Re: Towin' towin' towin'....
Thank HMRLVR, I was thinking about getting a boat and was a little worried about towing it back and forth to the lake. I'm looking at about an 18-20 foot deck boat so i think i will be ok.
