Ford's June swoon: sales plunge 28 percent

Sales for the first half of 2008 totaled 1.1 million, down 14 percent compared with 2007 sales.
For the first time, Ford's figures do not include Jaguar and Land Rover, which were sold to India's Tata Motors Ltd. effective June 1. The figures do include medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
Jim Farley, Ford's group vice president of marketing and communications, blamed the rapid rise in gasoline and the shift to fuel-efficient vehicles as the reasons for the dramatic sales slump.
A gallon of gas now costs $4.09 on average nationwide, up from $4.08 the day before, according to AAA. The Fuel Gauge Index showed that 33 states now have gas prices over $4 per gallon. ...

Chrysler was done 35% for june. the only way I see them surviving is to start buying cars from Nissan or Tata and rebadging them for fuel numbers. the best thing they have going is a 1.8 Caliber that gets 31mpg at best.
