Is it possible, without getting that key to adjust the front end torsion about an 1" without adversely affecting the ride quality? Anyone done this and regret it? Is 1" about all you can safetly get? Thaks in advance. My rig looks like a hot rod with the front so damn low. Actually had comments on how they like my lowered rig. I assume I need an alignment but my main concern is I like the ride quality now and I don't want to regret doing this. Thanks guys.

Go get them cranked up. They are probably low from the factory. One inch will not hurt you and will not notice the ride diff. May be a hair stiffer--you will not notice.

I would get an alignment but the one inch will not change much. The alignment shop will also raise your H2 the one inch before they start the aligment.

Is 1" the most you would reccomend with out major affect on ride quality or can I squeeze out a bit more?

Yep, based on the fact that I have mine cranked well beyond that, one inch and you won't notice a difference in ride quality. There's a thread around here somewhere that'll tell you how many turns of the bolts to get an inch of lift, but you'll have to do a search for it.

It's an easy DIY project, made easier if you jack the front end up off the ground. And I have been told that it's a good idea to run around with the new settings for a few miles (50 or so) before getting it realigned.

Take a look where your bumpstops are. Your front end is probably riding on your bumpstops (or jounce bumpers as they are really termed).

Make sure you line up and make the exact same amount of turns on each bar, assuming that they were set properly from the factory. Indeed drive around for several miles so that it settles and then get the alignment done.

I believe we cranked mine 3 turns on one side and less on the other to get it to ride level in the front. After 13000 miles I've noticed its sagging in the font again. Why would it do that?

Phil: Since the H2 is my first rig with independant front suspension, how can I tell when the Idler arms are worn out?

I'm with everyone else.

Cranking the torsion bar to raise your truck 1" won't affect anything. When I had my Yukon, before I ended up with 12" of lift, somewhere in-between lift kits, I had squeezed another
1 1/2" by just cranking the torsion bars.

That being said, it wasn't until I had 155K miles on the original balljoints, tierod ends, etc, that I had to replace them.

Don't worry about it.

I cranked mine up to the 1 1/2" status, but not without a small problem. I measured the front end at the fender before I started and then again afterwards and found that the drivers side was 1/2" lower using the same amount of turns on each side. I compensated by turning the drivers side up to match the passehger side, about 3/4 of turn. I was a little leery about doing this, but the drivers side was noticably lower. I've not had any problems so far and the ride quality didn't change much at all. I do however need to readjust the headlights. Oncoming drivers at night don't seem to appreciate my new altitude. Adjusting the lights doesn't appear to be a big deal according to the owners manual. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

The only solution for the torsion bar adjustment is to read the guideline of GM.. The distance between the joint and the lower point of the lower arm is 122 mm +- 6mm as you can found on http://elcova.com/groupee/forums/a/t.../841108936/p/1

The drawing is incorrect and I think that this is better ...

The other point to measure are only indicative.
As many people of the forum says, every H2 is different to another, but it the same on other car... 1/2 inch is not a problem... 1 or 2 is a lucky choice... depend if you make OR or only HGW... I have buy my H2 used and the owner before have lowered of about 3" (without give me notice) ... results... destroyed right front shocks...and replace pitman and idler arms..
