Has anyone tried to play MP3 CD's or DVD's on the 2005's NAV system? I have an 03 SUV and am about to upgrade.

I have a 05 SUT and they will not play on there. If you want to play DVD's on the Nav unit you have to get a mod installed. If you are interested in doing that here is a good website: http://www.navwithtv.com as far as the MP3's I have no experience with that.

Thanks! How "invasive" is the mod? Does it look and feel just like factory? Any added parts or is it software only?

This mod only allows you to be able to view DVD's on the screen you will still have to install a DVD player in order to play the DVD. This mod does not mess with any of th settings on Nav unit so as far as look and feel like factory YES. The mod itself is a RGB unit that is install you can send them the unit or you can install this yourself. If you have any other question call 718-763-7300 and ask for Dominic. That is all the info I have on this. I am getting ready to do this myself and I thought you might want the info.

Thanks.
I might just get an iPod connector and be done with it. It would bee 'cool' to watch a dvd if the factory system would do it like on the cadilacs.

It really doesn't make sense to my why they would include the DVD hardware and screen and not make it play video DVD's. The espense would have been nominal.

Two things:
1. Lawyers
2. State laws that forbid video watchable by the driver.

I just called the dealer and they said it would play the DVD's if the vehicle was in park, is that true?

I believe the dealer is mistaken. I have an 05 NAV unit in my 03, and it will spit out a DVD movie disk and say "not a map disc".
Have the dealer demonstrate it for you... It's possible GM may they have changed something in the NAV unit, but I doubt it.

So let me get this straight.
I have an 05 SUT with NAV.
I have the Visualogics headrest monitors with the V.logics installed in the center console. You only listen to the headrest monitors through wireless headphones.
So now I can do this mod to my factory nav unit and hook it up to my visualogics DVD/ MP3 player and it will all be sync'd up? Sound too?
Can you still switch off the monitor on the NAV unit and use your nav unit while people in the back watch movies?

They are saying it will play DVDs if it's in park. Try it and let me know. I'll go by the dealership next week and try it myself if you don't get the chance.
Thanks, btw!
How do you like you're SUT? I have an SUV now.

LOVE the SUT! Went from SUV to SUT a couple of months ago. more limited on space, but I'm working on that!
Find out who said that the DVD will work in park, drive to the dealership, show them your DVD, and than bitch-slap them, and smile!
