Klaus

You seem to be the expert. Would you please check this link and tell me if this should work in my '03 H2 with the Lux Bose (y-91)? I want to retain the OnStar and mount a remote CD changer. Also, will all the current controls work i.e. steering wheel, rear sound controls, etc? Thanks in advance.

Klaus is the expert and he has helped me out with my install -but I think I can answer your question. Yes that system will work in your 03 with lux amp without any problems. It sounds like you want to do what I just finished doing. except I had to buy the luxury amp which you already have. I added an external cd changer in the back driverside wheelwell compartment, two headrest monitors and dvd player in the slot below the rear radio. I needed to pick up an auxillary audio interface to run the dvd audio through the system- the cd changer that I bought was vehicle specific and came with it's own interface. both interfaces were plug and play ant the install was painless with Klause's pdf instructions. The hardest part was running the wires through the seats for the headrest monitors. but anyway, that system will work for you but just wanted to give my 2 cents and say that you can do much better than there price if you piece the components together yourself like I did. good luck with the install. you can see pictures of my system here..

Hey thanks MyToy2. Exactly what cd changer did you use and do all your steering wheel controls, Onstar, etc. work as before? Thanks again for the info.

More Nav/CD questions. Has anyone or does anyone know if the Escalade Slot CD changer like Klaus installed will fit in the cubby hole in the rear console below the rear sound controls? Thanks

I doubt the changer would fit there. Why don't you look into a cartridge type changer?

I am having an issue posting the pictures here, but if you go back to my cardomain page you can see I added the changer and dvd player on page 3. And yes, any single DIN sized component will fit back there with slight modification. a little snipping of the plastic was all.. the DVD player that I used was single DIN and I liked the fact of it's practicality versus under the seat. I used a USA.SPEC cartridge cd changer designed to be used in conjunction with the navigation unit- here is one for sale on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50556&item=5739191 347&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW and Yes on-star, steeringwheel controls and low fuel prompts are still functional with the current system. the cool part is that the dvd player audio can come through the system via the head unit RSE controls.. or switched off for headphones only. very nice feature.. Hope this helps and wish you and yours a happy holiday season.

Tim & Klaus....Thanks so much for the info. It's a big help. Leaning towards the TNR Nav upgrade with the Escalade CD slot changer in the rear console where you installed your DVD. Also thinking about XM but haven't researched that yet. One last question. What Nav antenna application did you all end up using? Behind the dash or external and if external what part did you use? Since my CD changer just failed and the dealer says they have to remove it (just to get the p/n) then reinstall it and order the replacement then remove it again to install the new one (go figure??) I thought I'd just have them remove it and leave all apart and I'll do my upgrade myself. Then I'll sell the new head. Thank again for all the help. I really appreciate it since I'm new at this.

The factory NAV antenna is mounted in the dash. Since I junked the OnStar, I used the OnStar's GPS antenna on the roof instead.

Send me your email address in a PM, and I'll send you my XM Radio install PDF. It will give you an idea what is involved in installing the GM XM Kit.

BTW - I just finished an 800 mile trip to Memphis and back. With XM installed, we didn't listen to any CDs at all!
