Default ----------NO MORE ROCK CHIPS!----------

------Well, on the rear fenders anyway!------

I've been wanting to try this for sometime now, I got a wild hair on Monday, and did it!
I thought it would be a good alternative to the spray-on materials.
an added bonus to this is that you can remove it if needed.

first you need to go to your local snowboard or skateboard shop.
1- I purchased a 3'x9" piece of grip tape (about $5.50).
2- I made a template out of paper of the front of the rear fender.
Cut out the template and make any necessary adjustments to the pattern.
4- Trace the template onto the backside of the sheet of grip tape and cut out.
5- When applying the grip tape to the fender, only peel a few inches of the backer at a time, this stuff is pretty sticky and if you peel it all at once you could have one heck of a mess on your hands!
So, apply a little bit at a time and line it up as you go. Take your time and it will come out real nice!
6- Once applied, rub out toward the edges using leather gloves(you will take the skin right off your hands) so you don't get any bubbling.

Well that's about it, you shouldn't have any problems w/ the tape conforming to the shape of the fender, just work the tape out toward the edges as you apply it and you'll be as good as gold!

I will take orders for the precut fender protection
(2) Precut fender protectors w/shipping: $30.00

it looks pretty good, but i have a feeling you may regret it when you a) go 4wheeling through mud and b) try to clean said mud from grip tape.
I hope i'm wrong because it does look pretty good and serves a purpose.

Another GR8 inexpensive idea.

Im still waiting on that beer

Also I found when applying sticky type material you spray down the area with water with a drop or two of dish soap it can be moved around a bit press out extra water and let it dry it will bond to surface.
I did that with my vertical fender stripes on the 442.
