Use Brasso brass polish on the gouge. You will be left with swirls that you will be able to get out with "Mothers"brand platic polish using a soft cotton cloth. I have used this on many DVD's including my last Nav disc that was too damaged to read and works like a charm.

I also use this Brasso my Rolex acrylic lens and have taken out gouges deep enough that a fingernail would catch the gouge.

If you are still in warranty, you can go on line and get teh factory upgrade disc at no charge. I'm assuming you have the factory nav? There was a post on here a while back with the contact info for those discs.

You may be able to find the files online and rip them to a new disc. Try some different bit torrent sites. I like VUZE or btjunkie

On a old cd I had that was required for any software update- i tried all that and didn't have any luck. My last resort was a torch. Test it out on a few other cds first..takes a bit longer then you'd think to smooth it out. Then about 5-10 seconds after that your melting through. It worked, i'd only do it as a last resort though.

After a quick glance I found these files available for download (FREE) through VUZE or you could use btjunkie. Not sure what you need or what will work for you as I do not have nav.

I have used 3M perfect it compound on a couple of stubbornly scratched discs, I compound them with a piece of small cloth by hand then remove the swirls with a foam pad polish glaze.... just like buffing out a car. I have not had one single disc that has not come back from the dead.

I have not had any luck getting a burned copy to work correctly. I wanted to use a back up copy in case my factory NAV DVD was stolen I would not have to pony up another few hundred. Converted my disk to an .iso and Bunred the ISO in "DVD-ROM" format on Verbatim DL Singapore discs and the best I can get is it to work every few attempts. Otherwise I get a DVD error. Assuming that my lens on the DVD reader in my NAV is not able to read the disc every time. Anyone have any suggestions?
