Question Squish/crunch sound from rear passenger wheel ...

When I begin to slow down coming to a stop, I hear and feel a sort of squish/crunch sound coming from the rear passenger wheel. I have a little over 13,000 miles on my H3. It doesn't happen on quick short stops .. only when I give myself distance to stop. Does anyone know what this could be? I'm going to the dealer in the morning. (I also have a problem with the passenger seat belt not releasing itself after the brake pedal is released, keeping the passenger feeling like he/she is in a straight jacket until they remove their seat belt and re-click it.) By the way, they had had my H3 last week for a cyclinder head/valve replacement .. another time for tire pressure sensor message light. Thanks for any advise! (First timer here)

Nope, no roadkill. Thanks, you're suggestion and proclamation that you're "ghey" was enlightening. (Not).

Might be a broken leaf spring. My right rear broke right where it curls around the mount, but it didnt make a squishing sound.

Unhappy Re: Squish/crunch sound from rear passenger wheel ...

Update on that sound from the rear wheel ... the service rep said he hears the sound from all wheels when he comes to a hard stop, but that it's normal. Hmmmm .. where have I heard that before in the past with outher vehicles? They lubed it and he says that sound help. Should I be concerned????????
I don't have it back yet as they are waiting on parts .. replacing a faulty seatbelt, rubber strip, etc.

Angry Re: Squish/crunch sound from rear passenger wheel ...

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone else? Tomorrow will be day 11, no Hummer. I called my service rep again late this afternoon. Still waiting on parts. I asked him what they think the nature of the problem is. He said the back wheel noise. Now a team of specialists have been called in and are looking and working on it .. they don't know what it is. He said they replaced the pads, but that wasn't the problem because when they test drove it, the sound was even worse. In his words, "It's a real mess." I asked him if the problem was the rotor .. he responded by saying that Hummer doesn't allow them to just replace the whole brake system without going step by step .. lubing, then pads, etc. He said it's in steps. In the meanwhile, I've been without it for 11 days SO FAR this time .. and just the week prior, I was without it for several days for the cylinder geads/valves problem. I know this description is vague from the dealer, but just wondering it it sounds familiar to anyone else. It all started with the binding/grinding sound in the rear right.

Call Hummer, do now. Sounds like a BS line to me. You will be surprised at how quickly things will get done.

Also stop in in person.I hope they resurfaced the rotors when they tried the new pads.
I hate it when they dont tell you whats going on. You have to pry the info out of them.
Good Luck

Angry Re: Squish/crunch sound from rear passenger wheel ...

FInally got my H3 back today. It turns out that they had to resurface the rotors and replace the pads. They said they tried differnt types of pads .. each one made the sound worse. They had a Hummer specialist come out with some thick pads and those were/are the ones that worked. I test drove it and it sounds fine. Hope it stays that way. I find it interesting that I told them to check the pads and rotors on day one. They insisted that wasn't the problem. Two weeks later with a Hummer specialist team, they tell me .. "The rotors were resurfaced and pads replaced." AGHHHHHHH!!!!!! PLUS, someone there opened the driver door up against a wall or another vehicle and put two small white paint scrapes on the doors edge. AGHHH! Just saw it.

Im glad it worked out.
Same problem same amount of miles on rig..interesting.
I did notice they used disk brake quiet or treated pads(you can see blue on pads through rim )maybee thats what they forgot to do the first time or they tryed pads without cutting rotors. At least all is fine now

Try some clear coat rubbing compound on your door edge ,if paint was chipped I would call and see what they say.
