I have been looking at these also ... looks pretty cool but I have the 5th generation with video and I don't think it will work.

Doesn't look like this will help you with the stock H3 stereo, but if you ever change it out to, say, Alpine, there's a perfect solution, called KCA-420i... an iPod adapter. Direct connection = 0 loss in quality, and you get full control from your deck.

So is there not an Aux connection on the Monsoon/MP3/Single Disc/AM/FM system?

We will have to come up with an iPod solution for you because once you go to a Hummer we can't have you missing anything about your Element

Luvin My H3: this was posted on another forum and a member is hooking it up soon to try. I think it will work just fine but you still need to add the iPod interface which they sell as well...

A buddy of mine has a sweet little monitor in the dash of his Sequoia. We measured it and it would be the perfect fit in the stereo area of our H3's! On top of that, he has a bumper camera mounted on his SUV that is routed directly into the monitor. It's very slick. I'm really struggling to not make that purchase!

From what I have read, this will work with the 5th gen iPod. Also the HK can be direct connected if you use the Soundgate AUX input. I am considering trying this also. I'm just not fond of sticking anything to my dash. I need to find a clever way/place to mount it.

Radio is very easy to pull out.Take 2 fingers and place them in the 2 power connectors and pull outwards.Once you have those clips pulled out the rest should be easy.Remember the Vents at top will come out with the front panel. Then just 4 bolts to un screw and it should slide rite out.

FM Modulators suck major ass. I am seriously thinking about ditching my stereo and adding an Alpine touchscreen and iPod connection to get the job done. My guess is then I'll probably have to buy new speakers and an amp, and kiss OnStar goodbye. Not ready to do all that yet.

They should invent an interface that reads ipods and gives you a larger view screen...
I can only imagine how dangerous I'd be trying to shuffle my 20GB ipod while trying to drive on a windy road... I don't have time to create playlists and I get mad when shuffling and I hear something that rocks and then all of a sudden one of my more mellow tracks comes on... You just can't go from Slayer to Sheryl Crow ya know...

I believe there is an aux adapter available that can be used in the H3. I had something similar in my Denali and it used the CD changer's input for a direct connection. You can look at it here.

Well, the sad news appears to be that those of us with upgraded stereo systems i.e. anything other than the base single CD without monsoon, are stuck with using an FM modulator to play the iPod through the factory stereo, or purchase an aftermarket stereo with an AUX port. <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by xburbman:

Just removed my Monsoon/MP3/Single Disc/AM/FM system and guess what?? THERE IS NOT AN AUX INPUT!!! The freakin' Hummer 800-line people I called yesterday don't have a clue. Now that I have it out, what should I do? The most important thing to me is to get the ipod connection made directly through some sort of head unit, not through FM modulation. Should I just get the basic H3 stereo (which TorontoJeff says has the AUX connection), or should I look for something else? I do not like the way aftermarket stereos look in our beautiful brushed steel console, unless the steel on the aftermarket is identical to it (which isn't likely). Is there any DVD touch screen that fits the entire space perfectly, and will have a connection for an iPod?<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by First Hummer:

Hummer4Life: I've recently purchased an iMac G5 and with it came a mini iPod (now my girlfriends). More importantly I have purchased an H3 (Slate Blue/Lux Pkg/XM Stereo-6 CD/AM-FM) How difficult will it be to interface her iPod with the Stereo? I'm not electronically savvy. Your insight is appreciated. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I use an iPod mini with a Belkin TuneBase. It has a gooseneck that allows me to locate my iPod mini low and in front of my manual shifter. The top of iPod ends up lined up with the rear wiper control. It plays throught the radio and works great however I noticed that it's performance is dependent on what vehicle you drive and what area you drive in. My wifes X3 has a little more of a reception problem when using the device. This Belkin Tunebase also charges the iPod mini. See link:
