I was just at an IHOG event on Drummond Island, MI. There were a number of GM engineers there driving 2004 Hummers. One engineer was telling me that in her H2 with the nav system, she could use nav or the CD player but not both at the same time. It was reportedly a cost savings decision.

NAV is not just for directions. I just traveled up to Cape Cod and needed to locate a Hotel room since all the Hotels I was driving past had NO VACANCY
I clicked on the DVD NAV and searched for Hotels which I sorted by distance from my current location at the time. At least 50 Hotels with phone#'s showed up. I called 10 before I found 1 with vacancy and was at the Hotel in less than 10 min!
Among lots of other things, it's also awesome to locate any type of restaurant with phone#'s sorted by distance.
For me it's not so much the directions to get from place to place (you can get that from MapQuest), it's more to get to a place of your choice at that moment from where you are

If I hear the words 'for cost savings reasons' one more time I'm gonna take all of those 'cost-savings' and build a new car out of it.
You can't listen to CDs while using the GPS borders on the lunatic side.

NCHummerman is right. Street Pilot rocks. I have used it off-road, in the dessert, on a boat and in other cities while travelling. Definitely get a mobile unit. Spending 2k for built in nav makes absolutely no sense to me particularly when you can't even listen to the radio at the same time.
GPS is an absolute must. When you have it you will know.

IF this is true (*and I hope it is not), I would suggest getting the Nav radio unit out of another GM model.
Why would Hummer put a DVD Nav system in without a CD changer option - just plain stupid.
Also, why wouldn't they include the XM radio option? Not putting it in is just a bad miss at potential revenue from the subscriptions...stupid move #2.
Let's wait and see what the 2004 really holds - I've posted and heard several times that it will be the same unit as in the Cadillac - to the tune of a $1995 option, and the Caddy has a changer and XM radio option - it is nice, I've driven one with this unit...

Gotta get the afteramrket nav from Pioneer. You can have the nav up and running while using any other source you choose.

I'd rather be lost with music.
Get the 6-CD changer instead!

Go Garmin Street Pilot and you can easily take it out of your vehicle and use in another vehicle or on your bicycle, and even carry it in your pocket for hikes .....
