Just wanted to give a shout out to Buckeye Hummer. It seems that his advice about including the wife in the purchase by getting her opinion on color(she thinks white is best) might actually be working. I'm sensing real progress in negotiations....more updates coming soon.

You may have missed an opportunity while at the dealer. You need to tell her your real wish is the H1. Thinking you are out of your mind the H2 will seem totally rational and a "good compromise".

I did this with my wife when I was first getting into the off-road thing. I wanted a Land Cruiser and she thought it was Too Big, Too gass guzzling, Too....... So instead I convinced her that my heart was set on the H1 and I wanted her to come test drive it and give her opinion. As predicted she thought I was out of my mind. Little did she know how sane I was. Immediately a Land Cruiser test drive left her feeling comfortable with a purchase. She is certain that it was her idea, that I was somewhat dissapointed, and she did the right thing.

We lived happily ever after!!!!!

Good luck.

I have two rules in life to live by:

1) Live life minimizing regrets
2) A happy wife is a happy life

I bough my hummer after the wife gave the go ahead.

That's not really that great of a deal. There are other posts where they are discounted 6K new. Beat them down to $42,500 and you da man!

My wife agreed tonight that I could get an H1 after she gets a Honda Odyssey. I like H1's more than I hate Honda Odysseys, so now I am dreaming about the H1 I can't afford. Sounds like I'll stick with the wifes Tahoe and my H2.

Grind 'em to $40K and then you'e got a deal. You know they took the H2 for under $40K anyway.

Absolutely Buckeye. WHen she told me that she really liked the white. I said "You know..your right. You don't see very many white ones. Everyone has Pewter."
I almost lost her after that because I got a little anxious and was like.....Yeah It will look badass with the windows tinted out and wheels blacked out! I can't wait to get that thing off-road!!!! SHe kind of backed off a bit after that. I am a stupid stupid man. Damn it.

As for the dealership here in st. louis. It seems that they are topnotch. Reasonable pricing that is upfront. Had an awesome testdrive. I also have a friend who has a farm where they do a lot of off-roading events for both Jeep and Hummer. His family has 3-4 H1s.
Are there any H2 owners on this site from Missouri? Any that have attended events at Sayersbrook?
Thanks again Buckeye. I think the purchase is even closer than I originally had hoped.

Funny, I've been looking at H1's lately only for the tax benefit. I would sticker it with my company logo and drive it around L.A. I truly believe it would help the business given the segment I'm in, where I live and how eye catching the H1 is. I went to Team Hummer in Pasadena yesterday. They had a loaded open top grey, pretty cool I must say. I started trying to figure how I could buy this thing and get away with it. My wife has been requesting a mini van, which would absolutely kill me even if I never drive it! So here is my thought. I could turn in my wife's tahoe and get her dream van to haul the kids around (a major compromise on my part just to have it reside at our property). Then buy a second vehicle like maybe a stripped down tahoe (our current lease is about up that's why I would consider another one). THEN, I could buy the 3rd vehicle that will sit at my warehouse, you know the pewter, open top, H1 strictly for advertising purposes (and weekly off-road trips with Steve). I'm just dreaming and I really love the H2 and even believe the H1's might be a tad wide for our trails but I still dig them.

Dennis, I can't get anything past my wife so I have learned to be very creative and much more up front. I f'd up last time with my H2 purchase, tried the "It'll be practical route" when I should have just said I know this thing is impractical, I'll never let you drive it and it's mine god damn it don't touch it! I'm going to spend lot's of stupid money on things to stick on it to so take that. Unfortunately she now practices the same tactic at the mall

Either that or you're lazy. I bet it has something to do with the low light conditions under your bridge.

Chris,
I didn't know that Xavier was a school for the developmentally challenged. You've got to be pulling my leg.

My fuc&ing sister in law spent so much time clamoring over the virtues of a minivan WE MOVED! The reason and my wife’s new job but really every time the subject of cars came up it was "Honda Odyssey this and Honda Odyssey that..." and my wife was going for it!

Good thing my sister in laws van smelled like rotten ass and old bologna (from mass consumption of food by her kids) it kept my wife out of it. I called it the stinky van.

Anyway my wife was ANTI-HUMMER and she pays the bills, then one day we were at Wal-Mart and she saw a young family of 4 climb out of one and here we sit just waiting for the '04's to hit the lot! I never even brought it up I was all about a Chevy Avalanche and then she said no “We’re getting a Hummer”!

New twist....just got a call from a freiend of mine who owns a volkswagon dealership. He is getting a loaded white H2 in today on a trade in. He needs 45,000 for it. It has 3000 miles on it. How crazy is it that he calls two days after wife says she likes the H2 in white? Sounds like it was meant to be.

Has anyone purchased their H2 from a non-Hummer dealer? Any potential problems there?

I understand completly as my wife suggests accessories for mine. I had an 03' H1 wagon and open top as loaners and we went to dinner and she said you know I could really see you with one of these. I even let her drive that one. My seed is planted I just keep it watered and fertilized. Not to mention new shoes and handbags
