WTF STOP letting your kids tell you what they can do. We need to keep them in line old fashion style.

Re: birth control for 11 year olds?
I freaked out. My daughter is 12 and I am NOT ready for that.

Re: birth control for 11 year olds?
Why does an 11 year old need birth control in the first place? They're not having their cycles until around 13 (in most cases), so what is the need to provide them with someting that does not even benifit them?

Re: birth control for 11 year olds?
I don't have a daughter, but if I did and someone gave her birth control pills without my consent, they'd have hell to pay in a bad, bad way.

That brings up a question. What if they started handing out condoms instead? Obviously that is not quite the same thing, but it is along those same lines. At least then they are "promoting" safe sex rather than unprotected sex, right? Just curious.

Re: birth control for 11 year olds?
Also, it is only sort of without your consent. You have to sign a waiver that allows your child to receive medical care...they just don't tell you what type of medical care they will receive. Not saying that is any better, just pointing out that you COULD still prevent it, although you would be preventing all medical care.

You do have an interesting point. However I DO have a daughter, and I hope that I have raised her to be smarter. Also, I agree with TXSUT, if someone gave her BC without my consent....It's going to be a bad, bad day!

A quick Google search reveals: "In the United States, the average age a girl starts menstruating is 12."
If the average is 12, then there's plenty that start before 12.
