Default I'm BACK! 3 year SmartBuy is up..moving to Cali..what next?

Hey all I'm in Dallas, TX,

I was on here about 3 years ago excited about my new H2 that I wrapped for my company. Some of you might remmeber it's Pink. haha.

Anyway...

My SmartBuy is up this month. They want a final Balloon payment of 35K, or to turn it back into the dealer, obviously at a big loss, about 9-10K.

I love the truck, but, I'm not sure keeping it is the right idea? Financially times are tuff and we're moving to Cali in 13 months.

If I try to sell it on my own, I'm sure it would probably be tuff with the given market to sell?

I could re-finance it, and I would probably need to do it over 5 years, but that leads me to another problem. I'm moving to Southern Cali in a year, and I've heard the people out there are pretty Anti-H2's and I think alot of them get vandalized out there right?

Last thing.. if I keep it, do I go with an Extended Warranty? The dealer is offering it at 2500.

So... I'm hoping for opinions on my best move? Am I missing any options?

Do I

Try to sell it on my own.
Turn it in and pay out the loss, and buy another vehicle.
Keep it, refinance, and overpay on the Value by a ton, if so, do I get the warranty?

Thanks for any advice guys!

Oh yea, this is me

Your H2 has the magic words on it "dotcom", which should make if fit right in in California. My oldest son has an Hummer H3 and lives in Sausilito, just north of San Fran. He's only had only two incidents, one of fingerring, and the other a gas station attendant who refused to turn on the pump for him at a gas station, in the two years he's owned it. The gas situation worked out well with a letter of apology from them and a 50 dollar gas card. There are also some great offroad trails in California your H2 will love.
If it was me, I'd keep it and get the warranty. Nice commercial paint job!

if its 3 years old, in reality its probably worth about 05 27k 04 22k so i would give it back and get qa new one under the 0% OPTION...

If you give it back will you have to repaint it and then have your new H2 painted like that. Total cost of $$$$$$$ for painting should be a factor

See if DRTYFN will buy it.

"Glamourdog" is actually his nickname in real life.

It's actually not paint, wraps are just big stickers that go on the outside of vehicles, no painting. The paint is actually well protected under the skin, so when it comes off it's supposed to be like new.

I found out some more about the SmartBuy I was unaware of. I did not know I could just walk away for only a couple hundred dollars.

I thought at the end I was responsible for the final balloon payment, weather that was to pay it off with a refinance, or sell it to the dealer and come up with the difference.

Now that I know I can walk away from it, everyone has advised me that is what I should do and if I want a new H2, I should get one or,... something else, either way, with this kind of pending loss $10K I shouldn't try to re-finance it.

Times are tuff at the moment and with our move coming up I think I am going to sadly be purchasing something else for a short while until I move back to Cali.

When I move back to Cali I'll see about buying another one for fun for me, not the company when I get settled and see how much garage space I have and driving I have to do.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll probably be offering some of my upgrades for sale on here in the next few weeks/days.

KC
