Oil Pressure after oil change

Hey all,
Just got a oil change done with 10w30 full synthetic and my oil pressure gauge is acting werid. At idle its 40, as i drive down the road it moves up to 55-60. Now if I slam the gas down....it almost hits 80.....

While cruising on the hwy at 70mph's the oil pressure reads 60....

I'm not 100% sure but I think my gauge would always sit at around 40 before the oil change.

Now, the H2 is running fine......is this something to be concerned with??

Should I reset the computer by disconnecting the negitive side of the battery??

Any thought would be helpfull??

I wouldn't say its an issue at all. the fact the oil pressure moves up that much is not a problem. if it was lower I would be concerned. the biggest change is the fact that sinthetic don't plaque up the egdes of the bearings so with time it should come down a little. secondly the lifters will open better with less leakage as they are compressed improving valve opening height.

if it'll make you fell any better I used to run 105 psi on my drag car that I drove everyday, never hurt it one bit.

you probably have a ****ed up oil filter.

What is the "normal" oil pressure supposed to be on a '08 H2 with the 6.2 liter engine running conventional oil? On my '05 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 liter gas engine and conventional oil, my oil pressure is always right at 40 psi. On my '08 H2, the oil pressure varies between 20 psi and maybe 35 psi, but never hits 40 psi.

Oil pressure will always vary with engine rpm. More rpm means the oil pump will be turning faster. Oil pressure specs minimum when hot are 6 psi at 1000 rpm. 18 psi at 2000 rpm. 24 psi at 4000 rpm. Max spec is 55-75 psi. With a full synthetic oil these numbers will increase somewhat.

It is cheap enough to change the oil filter with the propper AC Delco oil filter and see if that helps . if thats not it I would check the sender,than the gauge,40 at below 1000 rpm is not correct .

well, after a few days.....the oil pressure has changed a bit.....if I hit the gas hard it will climb to close to 80....but then lowers back to 40 and stays there. .......running great......actually seem to be smoother with the new oil.....

I am running Mobil 1, 5-30W. My oil pressure is steady at just past 40psi. You say you had the oil change done so I assume it was a Dealer or Indy who did it for you. I would take it back and ask them to check it. It may be some debris which is blocking the flow which will increase the pressure. Can I assume you checked the level to make sure they did not overfill it? If you wait and hope it goes a way, you are taking a big risk. If it is debris and you are thinking it is getting better, the debris may have just moved. IMHO don't take the risk. If in doubt, take it out and do it again. Oil is cheap compared to a new motor.
