I completed my XM install today and am quite impressed with the sound quality.

I installed the Pioneer GEX-P910XM tuner, Terk XM3 antenna, and the Soungate PIOGMV2 adapter.

I placed the antenna on the right rear roof just inside of the rear runing light. You can't even see it from ground level. I routed the antenna wire under the rear running light and down through the pressure relief housing that sits behind the black plastic louver above the rear tail-light. From there it was in by the rear speaker, under the back right rear utility panel and up under the right rear seat where I have the tuner.

The IP-wire was a snap to route up under the dash and the hardest part was GETTING to the radio head unit to do the final connections.

I took power & ground directly from one of the front 12V utility connections.

I'm anal and took my time making sure to tie wrap and place all wires and connections and it took me about three hours. Most of that time was gathering tools, reading how to take off panels, etc.

Total cost was $300.00 (Adapter was $100.00, 910 was $150.00, and antenna was $50.00).

So there you have it folks...direct XM in the Hummer with tunability through the GM head-unit.

The only downfall is the 8-digit display but thats not a problem as much as a GM design flaw.

Props to Klaus for all his help in keeping up with the Soundgate issue!!!

Patriot,

Pictures of everything, of course! Antenna, tuner, and adapter. Also, pics of the various displays on the radio would be nice.

Did you buy an extension cable to mount the tuner under the rear seat?

I took a pretty long drive around town and had zero drop outs.

I thought of going with the Blitzsafe too but figured nobody would see the XM3 up on top of the H2. You really can't see it at all.

The magnet is really powerful and it shouldn't move. I know some people have complained about scratches but since it's up on the roof...who cares. I may go to HomeDepot and buy some sheet rubber to put under it if I see some bad rubbing....we'll see.

Right now I don't have my roof rails on. If I add them and have trouble with reception, I'll let you know.

How about step by step instructions on tearing out the dash to put in the PIOGMV2. I dread that part.

So is the yellow and black off of the adapter harness power for the pioneer device or does that need to be hooked up for power to the Soundgate adapter? Thanks in advance.

Craig,

Didn't you get instructions with yours??

Yes, the Yellow and Black wires are for power and ground. They recommend also putting an in-line fuse (5amp) with the power line.

Make sure the power is "continueous" and not "inginition-on-only".

H2Dude,

When you take out the center console there are two screws in the front of it that attach the center console to the radio bezel. They are hard to see in the post by Happy Jack but they are there...up under the console lip a bit. The two hex bolts you see in the radio bezel are the other two item you need to remove. From there, there are only pressure clips that hold the top of the radio bezel level with the dash board.

To recap:

1) Remove center console. Make sure you get the two foward most screws that attach the console to the radio bezel.

2) Pull center console back about 1-2 inches.

3) Remove two hex bolts in radio bezel.

4) Pull straight back on radio bezel.

Once this is done you will easily see three screws that hold in the radio.

I removed the glove compartment to allow room to route the IP-Bus wire up under dash.

Hope this helps!!

H2dude,
I know the feeling. UPS screwed mine up yesterday as I was going to install it on vacation. They misrouted my package twice in one day and now I have to wait till Monday. They are definately going to hear from me again!!!! I think they hire only complete idiots there... Good luck on yours.

Good deal Patriot. Glad everything worked out. I was afraid if something went wrong I was going to be in a lot of trouble!

Did you take any pictures?
