GM Performance Air Intake
I am curious if anyone has had any experience/feedback with this particular unit, compared to a K&N, Volant etc... From what I have been reading here it seems like some folks have had problems with the K&N because of the oiling. This one works fantastic on this truck. I have never had one that runs as good, the throttle response it fantastic. I have had a brand new '09 H2, and this '08 with 36k miles runs so much better. It also has the GM Performance cat-back exhaust installed so maybe that helps too.
Does this set up need to also be tuned? I am the third owner and the second owner I bought it from had no idea if it was done. I am not gonna screw with it, just curious as I think I am going to take the whole setup off and install in another H2. I just bought a 15k mile 2008 H2 that I'm gonna keep for a while. It has tires/rims and other mods, but doesn't have the CAI/exhaust..... I'll tell ya, I sell em, miss em, and always come back for more!!

Re: GM Performance Air Intake
On the first above filter pic, I cleaned it really well using the K&N and it's 2 days dry now. I did not oil it, that is the color it came out. It was a fairly dirty brown when I first took it off, but still had a red color to it. The other side though, now after cleaning is kinda yellowish, here's a pic...
I wonder if I took the factory oil off, although every link I search on with the above part number said it's non-oiled...

I am still confused on this one. I have been calling different GM service shops and no one seems to be familiar with this setup either. The filter seems to come stock with the red color and this link says "The free-breathing air filter is non-oiled - which means it won't interfere with the computer sensors".

I was bothered that I oiled it and didn't want to drive it. I just ordered a new one from my local GM parts dealer, was $115. I am curious to see what color it will come. From what GM says above about the oil too, I bet is why many on here have had troubles with the K&N oiled CAI systems.
