Correct. Very very very poor design. System works great but was not thought through in the design process IMO.

I would say the two biggest reasons are the delays from the factory and the fact that you can get an aftermarket unit for half as much. I don't think there are any issues with the factory system other than those too. I was very happy when I heard that unlike the H2 system you could listen to a CD will using the Nav. The H2 only has one slot for both the Nav DVD and CDs.

we have the factory Nav, took deleivery a few weeks ago. one of the very first ones to off the line with factory Nav (built mid-December). I can't get you any pics right now, hopefully this weekend. PAC audio has a VCI-GM2 to add aftermarket video sources, like a backup camera, to GM touchscreen Navs. I found out the other day though that the model number of the H3 factory Nav is not one they (PAC) are familiar with, so they are looking into it.
Factory Nav's for the H3 have been available since December to order. That is when they came off restraint.

On my eclipse you hit POI than put in what you want example outback (keyboard) than hit the closest one ...done ...it takes you there.
The eclipse can run a dvd.You have to put in a bypass switch at the parking brake so you can use it in motion.
Dvd is great if you get a dvd burner $79.00 at radio shack its very practical.

DVDs only work in park for safety; also destinations can't be changed while traveling. Home destination and emergency dest. can be used while traveling. On the backup camera as I mentioned earlier cannot be intergrated with fact. nav. according to the dealer. If someone else finds out different please post it.
thanks

It definately does. Thanks. I didnt know DVD's would play in them. How come it only works in park. Also, how is the car. I have heard the pickup leaves a little to be desired, but besides that I have gotten nothing but reviews. I appreciate all the info.

I just installed the Terk GM Direct Connect XM last night and it was very simple. I beleive they sell the same thing for Sirius as well. It gives you the same quality as if you got it from the factory, not a FM modulated type unit.

That depends on how crafty you get.
A switch fixes that problem.

thank you both for your help. I just bought a boulder grey lux version with everything from the chrome wheels to the Navi. the only option I do not have is the XM radio, but that is because I listen to Sirius, and I have already purchased the Sirius sportster device to have installed in my car. Btw is that connection, (sirius device) a problem. I figured i will just bring it to the electronci store I bought it from. I am just concered about the sound quality of it.

It really depends on what you came from. My last SUV (which is for sale if anyone is interested ) had a 5.0 V8 and would flat out move. I can really tell the difference in the H3 and it will take a little getting used to. I don't think I will miss it after a week or so. I by no means think it is under powered. It isn't supposed to be a race car.

You can probobly bypass the park safety. Than you have total access. When you are driving its destracting (not a good idea)but passanger can have access .It would be a pain in the a s s to pull over and look for a resturant or gas.

Not DVDs, but DVD-Roms -- that's what the Nav disc is. And it is true, there are two slots -- one for nav and one for a CD. Haven't done a rear cam yet w/ H3 factory nav..
