GOT DIRT? is off the scale

I am looking to put a new airbox in but my question is with the open boxes such as the vortex and airaid if you off road doesent it get dirty really fast and if you get into water you have a chance of drawing some in? I am wondering if the volant air box is a better choice.

Most like the Volant and the Airaid will perform about the same for HP gains and performance but no matter how you go if you allow it they will suck water. I have checked out many of the avail brands on the market and found the Airforce One Intake to be my first choice. Many members of this forum have them and I hear nothing but good things from all. I kept the stock airbox so as to not take a chance on ingesting water, put in an Airaid air filter, and replaced the intake tube with the Airaid Modular Intake Tube.

I have the airaid, but when I go off road I change it to stock just in case. We're only talking about 3 bolts, a couple of clamps and about 15 minutes.

I had the Breathless airbox and went back to the stock airbox with the replacement airaid filter.

I'm not convinced that cold air increases above the stock airbox and infact it appears that a larger gulp of underhood/hot air is with the engine gets. For every 10 degrees increase in intake temp = loss of 1% horsepower.
