Drag is off the scale

The Avalanche with an 8.1, eh.... Well that only puts out 320 HP @ 4200 rpm, and 440 lb.-ft. @ 3200 rpm. What does the H2 get with 2.1 l. LESS of displacement? Could it be just 4HP less? Of course your H2 generates it's HP at 5200rpms and it's peak tourqe at 4000 rpms, but that's a lot of extra space in the 8.1 for 4 extra horses.

Then again, look at the bore and stroke differences. The H2 is bored and stroked at 4 X 3.62 / 101.6 X 92 and the Avalanche B&S is 4.25 X 4.37 / 108 X 111. That and the fact that the Avalanche runs a 9.1:1 compression ratio and the Hummer gets 9.4:1. I don't know what all that will prove, except that I'm not as big a fan of the big block 8.1 as I am of the 6.0

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!
