You may get 20 mpg if you have the manual, and you don't go fast on the freeway. Car and Driver magazine reported that the H3 has a coefficient of drag of 0.51. That's awful. The FJ Cruiser is 0.40, and the LR3 is 0.41. A BMW X5 is only 0.35. What this means is the H3 is going to have a lot of aerodynamic drag at the higher speeds, and your fuel economy will plummet. Drive slowly, and get the transmission in 5th gear as soon as possible for best mileage.
