Default Re: MAF sensor defect ?

An inexpensive attempt at a fix may be to use some cleaner on the MAF wires...sometimes they'll get dirty and/or oily (especially if using an oiled aftermarket filter like a K&N/Volant, etc.) and will cause issues. You should be able to get a specific MAF cleaner at an auto parts store or you can use electronics cleaner on it. Worst case you can use alcohol and a cotton swab...just be careful as the wires in the sensor are thin and fragile. Let it dry well and give it a shot...much cheaper than $800 and if it works you're good to go.
