On my way into work tonight, I had my first deer encounter in the H3. We have so many roaming around this time of year here in Ohio. I was on a back road doing about 45 mph when out she came from my left side. It was a pretty large doe and she just decided to cross as I approached. She kind of jumped out of the ditch and started trottting across the road. She made it about half way across the road and quickly looked at the H3 and had this scared look on her face (you should have seen the look on my face), as maybe she noticed it was a Hummer and retreated back into the ditch twice as fast as she came out of it. I did a quick maneuver to the right, just got off the pavement a bit and then swung it back on the road. It happened so fast I never had time to think about how the H3 would react. Needless to say, I was impressed. The control remained at 100%, there was no sliding or leaning or anything. It just reacted. I know my last truck, Avalanche, would give and lean and you felt as though there was no real control when you had to weave around things or quickly react to miss an animal crossing the road. So feel confident that your H3 will perform well in times when you have to react quickly. Once it was all over,all I could think about was what I would have titled my post if I would have got nailed. Like maybe OWNED BY A DOE or something.
