Default '04 Nav problem

First, I wanna start out by saying, what a great forum! Did alot of reading before I just bought my '04 H2 Lux, learned alot, and I'll definitely know where to go when I need help!

So, my first problem is with the stock nav system. When I purchased it, it did not come with the nav disc, but came with the empty case instead. I can't find a part number on the case anywhere, but it says its Version 2.0.

Today, I picked up a new nav disc, it came from a 2010 Escalade. GM part number from this one is 20883771 and its Version 8.3.

Anyways, when I put the new disc in, the nav unit says "unable to read data...check if map dvd is correct"

Are these discs model-specific, or should any disc work in any nav unit? Or is it possible that maybe my nav just doesn't work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!!
