I bet those Autogeek guys could answer this. The sponsors in the Detailing section. They have marine products also.
I think an application of a UV protectant would work for prevention.
Remember that stuff they used to advertise late at night, some kind of old car restorer stuff, it came on right before or after the "Freedom Rock" commercials.
