My truck's wet on both driver and passenger side under the carpet...

The dealer at West Covina couldn't do anything about it 3 times, and I think they're just lying about fixing anything... I think they're just drying it and handing the car over to me (which I don't think is legal handing a car over to a 16 year old)

Any ideas on what's the problem or what I can do to fix the car, or get a new one?

It was one of the first H2's in California. We got it June of 2002, so I think it could be one of the guinea pigs.

In the past a leak has been discussed coming through the marker light.

Just type in "water leak" using the "Find" tab. You will probably find your problem there. There are other links.

JMV1210, Mine did the same after the dealer installed my SMA light bar, first they claim it was the door seal and ordered a new kit, the install it and 2 days later the water was back in the cabin under the driver's carpet well after 3 trips and 3 1/2 weeks later the problem was where they passed the wire harness under the roof driver side marker, thay had to re-seal it with silicone and now for 2 weeks and multiple car washes it still dry; so it seems that thay fix it this time Good luck and let us know if you are able to fix it.

One more quick question (in addition to the question in my previous post asking for help removing the exterior trim panel on the driver side edge of the windshield). Let's say that I am wrong about the water leaking from behind that exterior trim panel and that the water is really leaking from one or more of the three center roof lights. Wouldn't the water also travel down the a-pillar on the passenger side and soak the carpet over there? The dry carpet on the passenger side is one of the reasons why I have been thinking that it can't be the center roof lights. I really wish I had structural pictures of the H2 body before everything is put on it (windshield, dash, trim, etc.). I know I'm asking a lot, but your help is really, really appreciated!!!

Read the above posts and start there. Go get the silicone before you start. If you read it, you'll see some dealers have fixed it and others haven't.

There's also other information available by using the "find" tab above and typing in "leak". Hope that helps.

Have you tried the “puddle test”? I have been waiting for rain since having my trucks carpet and padding pulled out and replaced and random locations sealed. My case seems to be the only one from underneath that I have heard about so far. Like I have said in earlier posts, the real flooding that happened to me was when I drove through standing water.

I have thought of trying the fish tank method of finding the leak; seems easier than driving the thing into the lake and looking for bubbles.

I've decided to open up a lemon law suit with a lawyer, and since it will probably take a while, I'm going to continue to make some mods on my car.

-Full tints

I stand corrected, that silicone was clear, you were right Jonahs.

I know the first year is free and I didn't plan on renewing. I pulled up my account online and it shows to expire in 2006 . It was nice to have when the check engine light came on and they ran diagnostics for me. Paragon is right though about the airbag scenario. Peace of mind does carry a value albeit different to each other.

Joe,
Take off the "A" pillar garnish. If it is wet behind it, than it is the marker light. If it is dry, then look at the rubber boot that surrounds the wiring harness where it passes through the front door jamb. That was where my truck was leaking from.

Hey Sundown94,

I know how you feel. I had my truck a while and then found this site via a Google search as well. I was delighted to discover so many people who had similar experiences, not only with technical things, but with the overall Hummer experience. Some of the stuff here has been hugely entertaining too. Heck, I even got an English lesson once.

I’ve been thinking of using a hose to search for my leak too. I just had the dealer put in new padding and clean the carpet and seal a bunch of places where the leaks were suspected. If it still leaks, I think I’m going to stick the damn hose in through the sunroof, fill the damn thing with water and see where it’s coming OUT.

Thanks KenP. I will be looking for it tonight. I am so hopeful that this works...I am very eager to finally NOT have to wear boots (or snorkel gear) when getting in the truck after a major rain storm... :-)

UPDATE: Well I still have not put any silicone anywhere as of yet. But today, I opened up the sunroof and sprayed water directly into it. Nothing. Also, the water leak is not from underneath, because it leaks while sitting in my driveway. However, I did finally get it to leak when I sprayed water "near" the corner roof light. I know the rubber gromet makes a nice tight seal under that light, so I think that the leak is occurring under the exterior a-pillar body molding (that part that covers the driver's side edge of the windshield). I see that this piece is held in place with screws (maybe the leak is around these screws?), so does anyone know how to remove this molding? Also, I took the interior a-pillar trim off and it was nice and dry on the inside. I'm determined to get this fixed!!! :-)
